Today at Home Depot I saw this new series.  I was blown away.  Of course they had them side by side with the LG largest Front Loader / Dryer.  Both versions are nice.  However these Samsung machines are Enormous!  I kept standing in shock at how large they were. I would love to test them to the max and see what they are made of.  I am searching about to see what the Gas Version Dryer BTU's are.  They are massive!

The one draw back for Samsung and LG with the huge machines is that I don't know how most consumers would be able to fit the machines into their home.  They are that big!  We are talking about getting through the doorway of your house and then making it's way to your "laundry space".  It is almost as though you would have to build your home or you addition around this Beast of a pair.

Here is the demo video.

Can't wait to hear some feedback on those who are using this pair.  Again this size is amazing!

Bob when you get a chance go to HD and see the set.

It will blow your mind at the size.

I think the price is right when you think what a commercial size of this nature would cost.

Mght it be cheaper to do those special large loads at a laundramat rather than buying this set for those occasional large loads?Like the mentality of buying a bush hog to do a city size lawn!?

None of the huge-capacity washers from LG, Kenmore, and Samsung will fit through the doorways inside my house. A local appliance dealer said he is getting very good at removing doors and the trim around doorways in order to get these washers---as well as some refrigerators---into customers' homes.

I think my Duet is 3.8 cu ft, and I can wash in 3 loads, what was 5 or 6 loads in my older TL washer. I can't imagine anyone needed anything that big....but people WILL buy them.

There was a gas model of this dryer in the scratch & dent room at the Mart the other day when we stopped there to poke around and kill a 1/2 hour or so. I saw no visible flaws in the machine, on sale for $850. It was all I could do to stop thinking about it even a couple of hours later. I wanted that sexy beast in the worst way! LOL

It's rated at 22,000 BTU input, same as most standard dryers. I checked and the electric is rated at 5300 watts, again, same as a standard machine. It would be nice if the gas version had a larger burner input. The electric version could have an option for higher wattage, like WP and KM offered. The extra input would allow the dryer to bring the load up to drying temps much faster, especially helpful if the loads are so big.

9.5 cubic feet. I was blown away with with the size, too, Brent. What a monster. I would be able to get the thing into the basement, but would have to remove the trim from the basement door and the handrail. Fatty, fatty two by four - can't get through the basement door...

I had seen the LG version of the Monster washer and dryer, but the Samsung is truly a sight to behold.

Samsung!

I work at home depot and sold 2 sets of these. I always remind the customer to check the sizes of the doorways!!! I think it is somewhat overdone. In my openion something this big should definatly be a combo!

Greg that is wild about the gas / electric version having the usual input.  Wonder if the gas version is a modulating burner?

I got home and measured every door in the house!  It will fit through the Den's sliding glass door.  So there the set will stay.  LOL!  Oh...it will also fit through the garage door!

Pete you are so correct!  This size would make an awesome Combo!  I just can't wrap my mind around why no manufacture out there will offer a normal VENTING gas or electric combo!  I think with the now computer controlled machines it would be and awesome machine!

I so want to do a load of 25 bath towels (or more) in this set!

These huge machines are great for large families or people who wash queen/king-size blankets/bedspreads/comforters frequently.

Most of my loads hover in that average six-to-ten pound range, with the exception of loads of bath towels, which take up every square inch of room in the Frigidaire's 3.9 cu. ft. drum. Occasionally, when schedules get too crazy, I'll wash a huge load of mixed whites---bed linens, bath towels, and kitchen/personal whites---twice a week, rather than splitting them into four (two loads of sheets, one each of bath linens and kitchen/personal whites).

Maytag, Whirlpool (4.6 cu. ft. capacity) and GE (4.8 cu. ft.) get the balance right for me: Plenty of capacity while maintaining a standard footprint that gets though doorways in nearly any home.

HUGE is BETTER?!

I agree that these are MONSTERS. But something this big shouldn't still be made of plastic. I shudder to think of those poor bearings pressed into the plastic outer tub spinning around at 1200 RPM. YIKES! Standby for a spin-splode!

Will it Handle the Weight of a Full Load?

My question is are these large 5 plus cubic foot washers designed to handling the potential weight of a full load. According to the laundry industry one cubic foot of clothes equals 6.5 pounds of laundry. That means at 5+ cubic feet these washers should be able to handle at least a 33 pound load. Wow!

I was thinking of that Samsung washer/dryer as well! Been watching YouTube videos of it. It's pretty advanced with auto-dosing, an (almost) waterless condensation drying system and multiple jets spraying on the clothes even during full spin. Capacity-wise, it is most likely based on the 4.5 cu.ft. version that was sold in the US (minus the auto-dose and drying).
