Samsung DW not cleaning

I am being left annoyed and stumped.
This machine has given us nonstop issues with cavitation even if I add additional water. Even with Cascade fryer boil out the pump will suck air, and I can add 20 ounces of water with a little relief. Certainly is not a sudsing issue. It also regardless of cycle does not clean dishes. We run very hot water at the top before starting the machine and load nearly clean dishes, and they will come out dirtier than before. I have extensively cleaned the machine and disassembled it to find answers. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to check on these machines? I have ordered a new drain check valve to replace and see what that does. It does not throw any error codes. Not to mention the fact that other online forums are not helpful at all. The machine itself would have been replaced long ago if it was not in a rental house.

In further detail, water supply does not seem to be an issue considering the machine has a flow meter for water intake and is not throwing an error code. I have cleaned all spray nozzles and spray arms, the filter mesh, the sump assembly, and used CLR to try and remove mineral deposits. I have actually ran the machine with the door open briefly and the spray arms move and water pressure seems OK. My only last thought is that the drain check valve is weak and is allowing water to flow either in or out when the pump is running, and is potentially pulling in air (backflow?). Otherwise, if this is how the machine is intended to perform, it should have never made it to the market. I will never buy anything manufactured by Samsung.

Well..

The new check valve did nothing. The machine is actually cavitating worse, which raises my suspicion that it was pulling water from the drain. The last two loads have been covered in detergent residue. Really fed up.

From what I have heard, yes. However, my Point Voyager cleaned circles around this machine. Not sure what the hell they were thinking.

I assume you've had the sump open and made sure that the screen/macerator/filter assembly isn't plugged and the blade (or whatever it is) actually spins with the motor?

Oh yeah, it is actually spotless.

Today I cleaned the water intake path, water level sensor, water hoses to the sump, etc. I also leveled the machine as much as possible, and it seems to be slightly better. I'm running a load of dishes now and will see if that at least helps.

This appeared out of nowhere. Samsung DW ended up in the garage. Not sure how….
Only $100 missing from my wallet.

Yes sir! It needs the lower wash arm bearings, but otherwise is in great shape. I’m sure the prewash will be more effective than the Samsung’s entire Heavy cycle.

It seems to do the 135°F prewash regardless of it sensing heavy soil on the soak & scrub cycle. I just hope it heats the main wash up to 145°F like on other power clean machines from this period.

The Super Scrub option may be the answer for 145 main wash. Notice the manual says that's an option not only for Soak & Scrub and Normal cycles, but also Anti Bacterial. Super Scrub is a fancy name for the high temp wash.

First cycle

Well, when someone here mentioned that a PowerClean machine would take paint off of a car, I kind of believed it. Holy shit! Now I am a convert. This thing is nuts.

I have used my aunt's Ultra Wash a few times and was always impressed. Though, I was never able to put it through a real test.

Kuds25

Owned/heavily used a kuds25 for about 20 years, was first and only dw had ever bought new. Mine would wear through Lower wash arm bearings frequently as in every few years, evident by front panel leaking/deteriorated wash performance. Also replaced the upper wash arm feed tube and lower rack. These will handle very full, heavily soiled loads as in i was lax on even scraping dishes and results were always spotless. Folks i had a 1hp waste king disposer but wasnt afraid to use this dishwasher as a disposal as well! - always took whatever i threw at it very well!

The final demise came upon moving out of the house and pulling the dw to take. The dw had been leaking pretty good for many years unknowingly. -Somehow the interior plastic water inlet vent looking device had slightly shrunk or was missing a seal or something allowing water to dribble down the metal exterior support and behind my cabinets. The back left exterior support was virtually rusted/rotted completly away.

Sorry, I tried to post here, but it did not appear.

I have the lower wash arm bearing on order. It is nearly non-existent.

Are there any other items I should look into cleaning or replacing? Thanks.

Cleaning replacing

Its all self cleaning although you will want to wipe the area inside under the door occasionally after a run. If you flip the lower arm upside down youll see the 2 spray holes that clean the mesh filter. My model was base with no sensor and mine did not preheat first fill. The main wash/final rinse was heated to 140f if memory serves. I remember this machine washing best with water heater turned down about as low as you can go for a hot shower - that way the dw ran longer while heating the water.

After the KA, i acquired an actual whirlpool quiet wash (powerclean as well) model which was an 80s design machine. The whirlpool was a little better at completly removing burned on foods on pots and pans cycle (from broiler pans and the like) but the whirlpool had one additional water heating fill over the KA. Whirlpool at that time did heat to 145f. Also, Even though the whirlpool had the wash tower, it was able to be worked around.
