Hey! I just got this Samsung impeller washer from a neighbor for $20. Seems she had chronic problems with unbalancing, and with her extended warranty, she was able to get a full refund, and bought another washer, a GE Profile impeller with agitator. I suspect part of the issue was the machine was not level, and she frequently washed small loads of shop towels. I have had zero problems so far. We still have this model on display at Home Depot, and the feature I really like is the adjustable water level. Low, Mid, High, and Extra High, and you can adjust at any time during the wash cycle. I use Quick Wash, Delicate, and Bedding, as Normal only provides a spray, not deep, rinse. I notice much less lint in the dryer filter, as compared to the Kenmore and Whirlpool I previously used. A fun machine, we'll see how long it lasts.

Looks like a nice machine... Samsung isn't my first choice... but their wash action is better than whirlpool HE top loaders from what I've seen. But hey, only $20

Is yours noisy? The one Samsung TL washer I watched on Youtube was God-awful loud. Sounded worse than a VMW to me and that's saying something.

If I was stuck with a HE top loader and I'm not sure I ever would be because I'm not a fan of them in general, I'd have an LG because the inverter motor is much, much quieter than whatever is in the Samsung.

That being said, both have decent wash action for what they are, much better than the Whirltag HE top loaders of today.

Noisy?

Not bad, you hear the grrrunt-grrrunt as the impeller oscillates, and with an even shorter grunt on Delicates...but it's overshadowed by the welcomed swish-swish of the water, as the lid's always open.

Have a Haier impeller washer (new to me curb find), and am that gobsmacked at how well it performs.

Weakness is common to all impeller washing machines; it tangles things something awful. More so things like shirt sleeves, pant legs, sheets... those sort of things.

My guess is previous owner complained of "unbalanced loads" because machine spun with things tangled into a bunch.

My Haier to some extent is built and designed to cope with unbalanced loads. If after set number of attempts to spin but load just isn't possible, it will stop and signal needs attention.

Happily my washer is on smaller size capacity wise so usually stop things between wash and or rinses (especially final), untangle, then let her get on.

Your Samsung washer makes same sort of motor noises as my Haier, thus am guessing motor and other bits are common across many Asian made washing machines.

That Samsung jumbo load would actually 2 large loads for me. I like lotsa water, and I suspect that's why my Samsung is a bit quieter.

Congrats on your find!

Finding a machine you enjoy in working condition for a low price is one of the best feelings in the world. I've never used an agitator-less top loader without auto sensing, but would love to try one out at some point. How high does it fill at the largest setting? Keep us posted on how it does!

Water level

Extra High is about 3/4 tub. I have actually washed a king-size comforter and mattress pad successfully. Problem is you need a commercial-size dryer to dry properly, and not a 7.0 cu ft Whirlpool. I really like the gentleness of the wash action, as I don't have dirt and stains, but mostly wrinkles and odor. Happy so far.

Yeah... that's the one thing I can NOT wash is a king sized comforter..and it's not for not trying. I once tried it.. Way too puffy and big and basically the whole thing just rotated with the drum.. My drum needs to be about 1.0 cu ft larger and I probably could wash it

I have a 8kg Whirlpool

As Mark says the bigger items go round with the drum and don't do much. However if you get a hose pipe and fill till just coming up the door with water it will wash a king size no problem...
