Samsung Washer with Addwash Door for Additions

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Trying to decide which is more silly, this or the French door refrigerators with the separate crisper drawers.

I bet the crisper drawers stick though so that people can buy those visually stunning $4000 fridges...

I can add clothes to my FL

Maytag 5000 in most cycles just by pushing the pause button and waiting for the door to unlock.

There are certain circumstances where the door won't unlock; like when the water level is too high or on a sanitize cycle where the water temp is too high. Other than that the tilted drum allows you to add clothes anytime, though the add clothes light is only on the first eight minutes of the cycle as after that you may have missed too much to benefit from adding; so just as well wait until another load.

Is there no End

Oh my god when will it stop, another piece of junk that will save the owner having to think.
All these silly supposed innovations (or re-hashes of old ideas), eventually we could end up with non thinking potatoes aimlessly going through there lives never having to make a decision or think about anything.
The manufacturers will own and control the human race................:-(

oh well rant over, I now need to rest before I decide what items to select for my next wash and I hope I do not forget any, that will mean turning the selector to "0" pressing door open and placing the forgotten item(s) in the machine and putting the control knob back where ever it was.................that has exhausted my brain just typing that out! :-)

Is the "add a bit" door somehow interlocked? The machine stops when its opened-kinda scary to add something while the drum is moving!esp if the item is long or large.Or is there a lock on the door to prevent opening unless the machine is paused and the drum stopped?

Here in the EU, there are several machines that usually can't be opend after only a couple of minutes. And I had this annoyment my self: Had a few items on my arm, walking down the stairs, loading and starting the machine. And on the way back up, I find that 1 sock that fell down without my notice.

However, there is a few basic types of machines about after-start opening.

There are those with the delayed door locks. These take 2 minutes to unlock and usually don't allow opening when wash level is reached. Easy bypassed: Unplugg the machine. Any machine with this kind of interlock I know will recognize this as power outage, thus saveing the cycle status. As no power is supplied to the lock, it will unlock after 2 minutes.

Then, there are the instant door locks. Usually found on higher end models with brushless motors and more exact water level sensors, you press pause, and after a few seconds, the washer will unlock. Or not, if temperature is to high. Not sure if they are bypassable with unplugging, though. Never had to do so, you know.

And there is the door button system. Only encountered it on an AEG and a Miele. The Miele is and was easy bypassed via the emergecy unlock. Just one pull, and the door was opend. The AEGs door button was either lighted green (door openable) or red (door locked), even while a cycle.

My Kenmore lets me add during the cycle

With the exceptions of the bulky and sanitize cycles, my LG made Kenmore will allow me to open the door at any point during a cycle by simply pressing the start/pause button.

Pressure Door Locks

There are also door locks that will not allow the user to open the door if the water level is above the door, this is achieved by air pressure acting on the door switch mechanism.
The only way you can get round this to drain water via the outlet hose until the water level drops below the door level.
