Samsung's explosion woes continue as some washing machines blow up in the US

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Yes...The Samsungtags... Still can't believe that washer lasted us 9 years and the dryer is still going.
I'm actually tempted to give another front loader a try again since I've finally cooled off from my excessively long relationship with that thing.

As reported by the CBC... I saw a comment on Slashdot, "Samsung advises that washing Note 7 phones with their washing machines is not recommended."

I think this is the same issue we've been hearing about with Spinsploding LG's. They lack any kind of G sensors on the outer tub. They ramp up at high speed, the load shifts and they spinsplode.

Most of the video's I've seen of spinsploded LG's seem to show that the user used a "Regular/Normal" cycle with bedding.

Honestly, I'm surprised that this only seems to be an issue with LG/Samsung machines.

Come to think of it, when GM made Frigidaire washing machines, they'd ramp up to the same RPM, roughly what, 1100 RPM? Why didn't they have problems with spinsploding?

Dousing

a lithium battery with water is the worst you can do, especially on an airliner.
Use a fire extinguisher, baking soda, or flour.
Sixty percent, at least of them have been returned.
As for modern top load washers, sadly this is old news.

LG Splodes in Woodstock

Just now on the news, an LG exploded and broke the owners hand. Apparently a tub support arm broke loose from the cabinet corner and kaboom!

Not again-Hasn't LG and Samsung FIXED these spinsploding washer issues? And give users better warnings about washing bulky waterproof items on the proper cycles?Of course owners don't read their instruction books-they just use the machine anyway-Post the warnings on the MACHINE-maybe the user will get it!

Actually Tolivac, In the local Best Buy, I see that they now have these warning stickers on LG and Samsung top loaders now. I can't help but feel that this is just another repeat of the Ford warning sticker. (See URL below.)

LG has at least done something to re-engineer the tub supports to make their machines more resistant to spinsploding, there's a thread about it on these forums with some diagrams. Basically, they made it harder for the tub support arms to come off the frame, but I'm no engineer.

I'm still put off by how easily the tub moves around on these machines. If you stick your hand into a tub from a GE Hydrowave or a SQ TL for example or even a BOL Roper machine, the tub takes considerable force to move around.

Maybe there's something I'm not getting here, but LG and Samsung (Especially the latter) really need to get back to the drawing board on this one and design something that can withstand this scenario.

Yeah, I know this is old news, but I'm surprised that this spinsploding issue didn't show up in Samsung washers earlier, considering that they're similar to the older LG spinsploders.
