It looks nice! Paul had one like this that we brought to John L. last year. The racks were bad but I think John already had good racks for it!

PhilR - did you hear this work? Are the top loaders generally loud? Not that I should really mind, it's such a nifty /cool looking top-loader, imho.

This is definitely a cool looking DW. By the looks of the tines in the racks it makes me question its loading. Nice that you can roll half the upper rack from one side to the other to help with loading. Racks do seem to be in decent shape for a machine of that age.
Two full size wash arms and center tower in a portable...bet that's "quiet" (DOUBT IT! LOL) Would be nice to see a video of that thing loaded up and running
Interesting that it offers "WASH" & "WASH-N-DRY" as the cycles.

Since Maytag started making dishwashers in 1966 this doesn't seem too far from the start. Maybe 67' or 68'?
Who has this and needs complete racks

Bob, I had a machine like this with bad racks, but as Phil mentioned, John's got it in the museum now. Ken had the opposite problem - good racks and a bad timer IIRC. Still, this one looks in pretty good shape and oy, for $50!! Hope someone can save it...
That's the same model that my dad wanted to get my mom but she did not want a dishwasher in the house.

We also had a very small kitchen with a 40" stove. The only way a dishwasher would have fit would be by replacing the stove with a 30" model which she did not want to do.

I'm going for this! I'm still looking for an early version with the dual pump and dual detergent dispenser, but I want to have this so I can end up with one perfectly working version with good parts.

At least it isn't being scrapped. And as much as I would like to have something that rare, I can't say that I am disappointed about not having to pay shipping.

I'd like to find a very early version of this model with the two pumps and the dual-detergent dispenser. A wood-topped version would be welcome too, but that's a later model. These are fantastic dishwashers and because of the unique design of the racks, I wouldn't even call this machine a "Reverse-rack" Maytag; you really can load almost anything anywhere in this machine although the large dinner plates and platters are meant to be in that wonderful sliding upper rack. Unbelievable how much can go into the WP-600 even with a few odd items thrown in.
