Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

"looks like a Kenmore Roto-Rack"

For a good reason, Polkanut. D&M - maker of Kenmore dishwashers - was the successor to Avco American Kitchens and Crosley. D&M took over the Connersville, IN plant when Avco stopped making AK and Crosley in the mid 50's.

What BS artists! The minute-long timer interval while the motor paused before reversing is called the "Miracle Minute." The poor Bendix Economat and Dial-a-Mat just had plastic finger grip lid handles and the Crosley top loaders had a handle that looked as heavy as the lid.

It's a shame AVCO pulled the plug on all of this Crosley line before it got off the ground. The Crosley ranges, freezers and refrigerators were last produced in 1956. If any of the Crosley-badged laundry appliances were produced, they were probably only mockups or prototypes for photographs or displays. Crosley dealers hoping for a full line of appliances were left with nothing without any warning when AVCO decided to sell the laundry line to Philco instead of merging with Crosley.

We did find a D&M Crosley dishwasher that had never been used behind a kitchen remodeling place, but it has been adopted by someone. Unlike the early Crosley and American Kitchens drawings of the dishwashers, this one had a straight front.
