Found this at a yard sale today for less than $20. (Appear to run about $200 online) It was filthy, but a quick bath of all the stainless in hot bleach water, and a wipe down with Windex, and it looks like new.

Dropped 3lbs of organic apples into it and made about 3-1/2 glasses of juice. Each glass got a pair juiced into it, and a good squeeze of lime.........killer!!

Been wanting a "real" juicer, but the prices for good ones were shocking. This one has a spin basket inside, just like a washing machine. So the pulp stays inside the spin basket, stuck to the mesh walls, and cleans off fast and easy. I think I spent 10min cleaning it up after use.

We tried out a Braun a few weeks ago and I wasn't impressed. It was waaaay too "cheap-o-walmart" type build quality. Did a great job, but was deafening loud and I thought the parts and design were "flimsy/cheap."

This thing is extremely well built, and ultra simple in design. I'm pretty happy with the find.

Great catch!

This is a lovely machine, at a very good price.

Some stores have filter papers for this machine (they are long, thin strips of filter paper that (I think,) never used them) go behind the cutter. I saw the filter papers most recently at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

I do NOT own one, but several friends have these juicers, and if I was into juicing, this would be the one I would want.

Have one myself (naturally). Super well made machines and so quiet. I got mine cheap as well but new they're quite expensive. Do get the paper filters for the basket.. makes cleanup a lot lot easier.
 
Yes, when I jumped on ebay and Amazon to get a bit more info, I saw the filter paper available (but didn't understand where it went) and that there is a citrus juicer attachment for an additional $45-$60.

You might read up on that best juicers sight. I don't know anything about the Champions. Or any other juicer for that matter.
 
I see Champions used in commercial applications a lot, so that's why I was asking. They are way more bulky and probably make more noise, but they're supposed to be really good at what they do.

I like the ACME. Looks like you scored big with that machine.
 
I have a Champion-use it mainly for OJ.got it used from a freind for $75.Its a nice machine-well made-The ACME is an excellent juicer too.But--mostly use the Vitamix and Blendtec for "juicing" less mess and you can drink the ground up pulp.sometimes I will make my OJ with the champion-makes nice naturally sweet orange juice.But you need a lot of oranges to make a 12 oz cup of juice.
 
Lots-o-fruit required is right!

Initially, I thought I'd used 2lbs of apples, plus 3 pairs....then I looked at the bag. It's was a 3 pounder!

Normally I get really sick from store bought apple juice. I don't know if it's the sulphides, or pasturization, or what, but I get a major case of the nausea and hot flash thing.

So I while my wife and daughter drank their glasses right up, I took about an hour to finish mine. But good news. I felt fine!

BTW, there's a guy on Amazon selling new cutter blades. $32 for the ACME version, but only $27 for the OMEGA version. I emailed him and he says they are the exact same blade. Might be a way to get a new blade on the cheap.

Also, these ACME's are cheap on ebay, including the "earlier" versions with the bottom and bowl holding towers that are chrome/polished metal.

Looking forward to the next round of juicing and maybe try a fruit and veggie blend of some sort. Be a good way to get a lot of carrots down the hatch.

I do know this: carrots labeled as "organic" make far better tasting juice than conventionally grown carrots. Far better.

Oh, and as for the Champion juicer: the Champion juicer works more LIKE a grinder, and the Acme style works more LIKE a blender or food processor. I repeat "LIKE." Both are excellent machines, but friends who do juice like the Acme a bit better.

My Registered Dietician says that juicing is a good way to START getting more vegetables and fruit into daily eating, but generally, eating the whole fruit or vegetable (juicing breaks down, and sometimes removes, fiber) is preferable to juice.

Agreed about eating the entire fruit

I'm a big fan of all kinds of fruit, and eat a ton of it 24/7. So juicing will be more fun than really a nutritional thing. In fact, I was kind of disappointed when I saw all the pump and apple skin that was slung into the "spin basket" because I was thinking......."Dang, that's a lot of the good stuff right there."

And yeah, organic carrots are so much better tasting!
