Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I find it interesting that a hotel would buy a Sears DW. Sears typically doesn't sell to "bulk" customers becasue they cannot make a lot of prophit off of the sale. I guess the machine replaced an original machine when it malfunctioned that may have been bought as a bulk sale at the time of construction. Someone from the hotel I guess went over to sears to replace the machine in a hurry.

Boy this brings back great memories!
I had that dishwasher when we slightly upgraded my moms kitchen back in the eighties and I must say that I miss that mechanical timer cranking and clicking when I wanted to change cycles. It cleaned the dishes well with the Cascade of years ago and I bet it would do better with todays Cascade complete. All I can say that it was a water hog, but who cares when there was a double rinse using the pots and pan or the normal cycles! No scent of detergent was to be found........

Sears BEST

I am so surprised nobody is bidding on this gem. If I was a collector I would snatch this baby up. They dont build them like this anymore.

Well Steve, for starters, that's not the original dtergent dispenser. Obviously, it's not "yellowed' like the corersponding rinse-agent dispenser lol. As D&M dishwashrs continued to evolve, they got more "WCI" oriented. Those double open cubs are for prewash detergent. There's comparable double ones under the cover too. On the last DU&M Kenmores I saw, with a rising tower like my GE, they had double cups on both open & closed area. This last rendition I saw actually was reminiscent of the KA dispenser like we saw at Roger's last weekend. You had a cover flap that rotated around.

Sears had a very big "contractor sales" division - I've seen lots of apartments equipped with Sears Kenmore appliances and numerous other commercial spaces used Sears as well. You save money buying in bulk... I think I have, or used to have, a Sears Kenmore contractor sales brochure and I remember seeing them in the Sweets Catalog files.

D&M was taken over by WCI at some point in the late 80's or early 90's.

I remember that

Back in the middle-late 80's when I was working for the cleaning service we cleaned for a builder that used all Kenmore appliances: fridge, range, DW and disposal. I thought it was strange they'd use Kenmore. I remember the DW's being very BOL, and my co-workers commenting on how cheap they seemed.
