Help Support :

got the last two boxes they had.....

but an unadvertised special, and only the W/softner Pink box, was on sale for 12.99 a box for the 275 load.....I still mis the 5 gal bucket!...it was mentioned only available at these locations....there was no signage, the cashier mentioned it to me....not wild about the softner version, but at that price, who could say NO!

I use the one with the Oxi Clean

and I love it. I have used it for quite some time. I tried to go off of it by using something that was supposed to be more "eco" friendly but my clothes really suffered especially dish towels and things like that.

I went back to this about a month ago and there is a huge difference. I checked their web site and this formula is not on sale. I hope that means they are not phasing that one out. Does anyone know?

DeSoto Chemical Co.

in Joliet, IL is the manufacturer of this detergent. Perhaps someone will want to call them to check on the status of the product.

DeSoto has been a supplier to Sears since around 1910, originally making paint and varnish for them. They were at least partly owned by Sears until 1987, when they bought out the shares owned by Sears at that time. The coatings division was broken up and sold to several other companies, including Sherwin-Williams (current mfr. of Sears paint), and PPG.

DeSoto also had a wallcovering division, United-DeSoto, that made wallpaper for Sears and also marketed under their own brand.

News today from Peoria

I went to the Sears store in Peoria today and bought 2 boxes of the 180 load size, orange box. I asked about the future and he said that a new package will be coming out in the middle of Dec. He said that Tide makes the detergent now and doesn't know who will be making it in the future? I am not sure he knew what he was talking about though?

Sears Ultra Powder Unscented

So sorry to see this go. I liked it for a number of reasons. I hate that I will have to start experimenting with other powders to find one that I like as well. I can predict I will be donating several boxes of powder detergent to the local men's homeless shelter. The main thing is to find one that doesn't suds too much. Our water here is so soft.

Today I called the toll-free number listed on the box. I got their voicemail which stated "Thank you for calling the detergent hotline", and to please leave a message. I had to go out, so didn't leave one. I may try again tomorrow, or perhaps someone else may want to try calling to ask about it.

My local sears is out of stock too

and on another forum, a poster confirmed it is being discontinued.

Methinks Sears Holdings is on life support. It is an anchor store at my local mall. Foot traffic is never what you would call heavy and at my local Kmart, same thing. The only foot traffic in Kmart is for the Little Greasers el-cheapo pizza.

Wonder what fire sale Eddie Lampert will come up with now?

Sayonara Sears...

We were just in Rochester, MN over the Thanksgiving holidays...
The Sears there, one of 4 anchor stores in the main mall, was closing...
"Going Out Of Business" signs encouraged us to take a look...
Everything was "50% off", but marked up 100% to compensate...
They did have a few boxes of the detergent, but I didn't want to lug them home...
Soon after "Black Friday", the store shut the doors for good, not even waiting for Christmas...
I was surprised that in a progressive town of 100,000+, there is no Sears...

Well...

Since I read on here that Sears Ultra is soon to be no more, I have been looking around at powders and in particular unscented powder detergents. I was in a dollar store this morning and saw All unscented pods. Looked promising. I still have a good bit left in my Sears box so I will keep All in mind for later.

Well...

I went in Sears this morning to check out the Ultra Plus situation. The entire shelf was bare except for two remaining boxes of Sears Ultra Plus unscented. Just what I wanted. One box was was badly damaged, but the plastic bag the detergent is in was intact so I bought it. Both were on clearance for $7.99 ea. The sales person could not tell me if that was the end of Ultra Plus, but it sure looked like it.
