This is my new favorite laundry detergent. I have seen this stuff get out stains that other liquid detergents wouldn't get out.

I use to use liquid detergents all the time in my front load washing machine such as Wisk 2X HE, Tide 2X HE, Era Regular, Gain 2X HE, and a few others I don't remember.

I got a big orange box of the Sears Ultra Plus HE Detergent that has 180 uses of full even scoops for $16. That should be about $.09 per load I do in detergent costs. A 40 use box of Tide HE costs about $9 so that would be about $.23 per load. That's a pretty big savings in my book. :)

I forgot to mention that using 1 even scoop (the one provided in the box) seems to make enough suds and it rinses clean.

Many of us have been fans of Sears Ultra Plus, both the regular and the HE versions (they appear to be very similar if not identical) for years now.

Also I think one may find that the cheapest powder detergent outperforms the highest rated liquid.

It's even

removed stains that I thought were hopelessly set...and stains that had been "set" in the dryer.

It is a great detergent. Has a nice, light scent that does not overpower or linger.

Ultra-Plus-er here as well...

...having seen the rave reviews here regarding Sears Ultra Plus powder, I thought I'd give it a try.

As usual, the experts at AW are right on the money. Easily dissolves, and just like Lawrence/Maytagbear says it removes stains you would have thought hopeless.

Here at the old plant

I use some Ecolab some Autochlor and some Ultra Plus
I really like ultra plus on the patient gowns and the surgery and E R linen as it knocks the blood out quickly also does a great job on the amublance work. I have it on automatic ship every Monday I get 10 boxes

Well, I bought my first box of this stuff last week and it worked great in the old 'Kenmo. For once, she didn't sudz-lock and the clothes (which I had trashed, working in the garden) all came nicely clean!

Next---- will be to try it out in the Bendix.

yes...excellent detergent....sometimes I use two scoops for really diry laundry....minimal suds no matter what...I also mix it in a 5 gal bucket with a small box of tide with bleach...for extra boost and that great smell....although I do have to disolve it in hot water first to use it in cold wash...and must keep in an air tight container...otherwise it clumps up.....but still great otherwise

I just bought a box today, and haven't used it yet. I do like the smell of though. I have a hunch this will be main detergent from now on from the rave reviews you guys have given it.

I want to try this version too. How many scoops do you guys use for a front loader? If I'm reading the box correctly one scoop for HE machines. This will be the first time I've used a powdered detergent in almost four years.

I use about half a scoop for normal front load washes. I use a full scoop in hot water for bed sheets.

I am not sure if this is correct or not so don't hold me to it but I could have swore I heard it is made by P&G.

mysteryclock

DE Soto Chemical co.. Very nice people have had a number of conversations with them in the past and could not be nicer to deal with. Check spirlator I have posted owners name phone number and address in prev post. It is not now nor ever has been made my anyone else.

Manufacturer

Ultra Plus is Made by DeSoto chemical. have talked with the owners on a number of occasions and are very nice people to deal with. have posted name addresses and phone numbers in prev. post check spirlator. It is not now nor ever has been made by anyone else. P & G only wishes they had something this good! The P& G reps are certianly not worth a damn anymore..

Suds lock!

I musth not be typing well today because I can't find the DeSoto stuff via the Searchalator. I did find a reference online in an Obit for someone who "formulated the first effective non-phosphate laundry detergent" (cool!) and worked for DeSoto Chemical, and according to that they are apparently now referred to as Keystone Industries?

Did they change names?

Green vs. Orange (vs. Blue)

sudsman,

Thanks for all the info - I really appreciate you taking the time to post pics and answer questions! I have a few more...

What are the differences between the "orange box" and "green box" (Advanced Formula) versions of Ultra Plus? Have you ever tried the "blue box" (AF - Free)?

Do you feel that Ultra Plus rinses out completely & leaves no significant residue? I would imagine in a hospital setting this is especially important so you don't get any allergic reactions, etc. but my experience up to now has been the bigger (so to speak) and more complex the detergent, the more likely it is something will irritate me or my boys skin.

For comparison, right now I use Charlie's Soap and some STPP which has so far worked pretty well. But I'm always keeping my eyes open for other possible alternatives.

Thanks again!

Mystery--

Can't speak for sudsman, but I have somewhat delicate skin (I should shower with Dove all the time, but just shower with it in the winter), and I have been using Ultra Plus (Orange box) for over two months now, and I have been pleased with how it rinses.

So far, no rashes, break-outs or anything of that sort.

I love it, and want to use it forever.

Have used the Green box the blue box and AF

And here in this area for a short time there was a yellow box. The Standard orange box is best for our use. I have had NO rinsing problems with it at all. And do not use any sour and only a little softner with it. On the brightly color items we use 2 0z of hydrogen Peroxide bleach on other things we use 1 or 2 oz of dry bleach.. I like the fact that is says on the box bleach is ok. Most do not. Also like the fact that after I talked to DeSoto chemical they worked out a formula use for us.. And found that a good guideline for us to follow is 1 scoop for every 20 lbs of wash Ie 100 lb load 5 scoops..(not very much for commerical standards)150lb 7 scoops.. they did the calculations after taking time to figure out the water volume in the machines and called us back with in 2 hours.. after I contact them.
We have one Dr. that does surgery with nothing on under the surgery barrier gown..(they are quite hot)(thank GOD they do close fully) and had problems with rash for a long time. and it is the only product I have found that keeps the rash off his sweet cheeks. I dont mean facial either. Also they are known to harbor odors and sometimes had a major problem with that Ultra plus knocked that right out. I am in contact with them on a regular basis and at this time they are trying to work out packing in 300 lb fiber Drums for us. We will have to buy in 100 drum lots but the saving would be fantastic.
It would be nice also to only have to order every 4 or 5 months.

Orange Box: Original Formula

Green Box: Advanced Formula with Dual Enzymes

Pink Box: Contains Fabric Softner

Light Blue Box: Free of Dyes and Scents

Dark Blue Box: Contains Oxi-Clean

Green, Pink, and Blue boxes are all Advanced Formula. I might get a green box the next time I need detergent, but I am happy with the orange box.

I use the orange box variety

in my Maytag Dependable Care toploader, and it works just fine.
