Seeking Miele door seal info

I've recently acquired a W1966/T1576 pair for a couple of hundred bucks off Craigslist. The washer needs a new door seal and I'd like some advice on the best source for an economical aftermarket seal. My plan is to go ahead and replace the seal before I get around to reworking my garage (more water supply plus 240V for second washer and dryer) for a test run. Any info/advice would be appreciated.

How big is the hole?

Where is the hole? At 9 o'clock?
RTV and a bicycle patch is quite good.

I check with Miele how much a genuine one is and then look at ebay.
Someimes Miele can suprise with the cost but mostly its ebay that is the clear winner for me.

In saying that I am hoping that someone can recommend somewhere cheaper still.

About 3/4"X1/4" at 6 o'clock...

...rectangle on inside circumference . What would cause that sort of damage? I had thought about maybe trying the sort of repair you mentioned. I appreciate your confirming that it's possible at least until I can fire it up and determine if it's worth spending any time and money on.

Believe in Europe you can find generic after-market boots

For Miele washers, but you'd have to know what fits what particular model.

Personally would just go with a real Miele part as the boots do vary by machine. Also at least you have the back-up a warranty (such as it is) should something go wrong. This or find out what particular model part number fits your machine then head over to eBay. There are usually several Miele door boots on offer, though some may be from European sellers.

Watched a Miele tech install a new boot on my W1070 when I got it years ago. It wasn't an easy process as one would have thought; stretching the thing to fit.

Thank goodness did order a new door boot before the unit arrived as the one already installed was gross with mould and had a nice big hole in folds.

I second Launderess' opinion. I bought a door seal online for my W1986 and I had more problems with it than it was worth. You may pay a little more for a Miele brand seal, but it will be worth it in the long run.

I got an aftermarket seal for my 1986 from a store in the UK, was super easy to install and fit perfectly.  I also found some on ebay at the time.

I've ordered an aftermarket seal from UK eBay (spares-direct) for a total of $33.23. At that price it doesn't even warrant attempting a repair on a 10+ year old seal. If it leaks and or is short lived I'll go with an OEM next time. It may be a while but I'll do a follow up eventually. Thanks again.

I purchased a non-Miele door boot online from a company in Spain for my old W700.  I installed it with no problem and it's been great!  Good luck!

It's my guess...

...that most of the aftermarket products like this for any particular model probably originate from a single source in China, etc. It's just up to us to do our due diligence and find the best price plus shipping for our locale and order accordingly from the suppliers.

I wouldn't repair that either.

I would repair a hole in the flat portion higher above the max-tide line 3 or 9 o'clock.

I bought a non-genuine seal for a W504 from UK whitegoods.
Great price and its fully functional, but it looks ugly (the colour is slightly off and the gap is a tad too large)
