Self Chilling Cans...

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Interesting..

Wonder if they’ll go worldwide? They would definitely save refrigerator space.

About 20 years or so back, we (UK) had self HEATING cans which had tea, coffee and I think some cuppa soups variants too, (the big brands too - PG tips, Nescafé and some others). Surprisingly, they weren’t on the market very long, unsure if it were because they didn’t sell that well, people didn’t like them or they were an environmental disaster?

Self-Cooling Cans

Cool Idea, but a little expensive and it makes for a pretty small drink, I think the idea will do much better in Europe where portion sizes are already much smaller and refrigerator space and availability is also more limited.

Hopefully the entire thing is aluminum so it can be recycled easily.

Not if it costs a bomb it won't.

And no doubt the EU will cite safety, and conduct tests, etc regarding the pressurised gas system.

Will be another blooming thing for the U.K. govt. to tax. They’re currently having a field day with the sugar tax no doubt.

This was (spun) propositioned as a way to help towards combating childhood obesity, but In reality was to generate another revenue stream for our greedy govt.

Mind, I suspect this may have backfired on them spectacularly, nearly EVERY existing soft drink on the market has changed their receipe to either with no sugar at all (replacing it entirely with artificial sweetener, namely NutraSweet) or a mix of the two, but taking sugar level down to below the threshold of the sugar tax.

The (very) few that haven’t changed their receipe from full sugar (and I can only think of Coca Cola off hand) have reduced their product sizes, so they can charge the same price they always did and thus this covers the tax.

Of course, NO manufacturer wanted to increase their charges due to this sugar tax, as it would harm their sales (of course), but the tax is forced, so they only really had 2 of the above options.
