will do much better in Europe
Will be another blooming thing for the U.K. govt. to tax. They’re currently having a field day with the sugar tax no doubt.
This was (spun) propositioned as a way to help towards combating childhood obesity, but In reality was to generate another revenue stream for our greedy govt.
Mind, I suspect this may have backfired on them spectacularly, nearly EVERY existing soft drink on the market has changed their receipe to either with no sugar at all (replacing it entirely with artificial sweetener, namely NutraSweet) or a mix of the two, but taking sugar level down to below the threshold of the sugar tax.
The (very) few that haven’t changed their receipe from full sugar (and I can only think of Coca Cola off hand) have reduced their product sizes, so they can charge the same price they always did and thus this covers the tax.
Of course, NO manufacturer wanted to increase their charges due to this sugar tax, as it would harm their sales (of course), but the tax is forced, so they only really had 2 of the above options.
