I have lots of timers 'in stock', but no idea what machines any of them are from. Could you please post a picture (or two, or three) of your timer, along with maker's name, part/model number, etc. If I have one, it's yours for the postage...

Hi Richard
I love your A3110 did have one many many years ago from Glasgow along with a A3060 from London but that trip is out if the question now. Your machine looks just fresh out if the factory
I know not a Hoover but like you won't part with her as like her too much. Even get heated rinses with the Servis Gem 1000

Not sure if the picture above that Gary posted above is enough. It's a crouzet 879 that's printed on it.

Gonna get the machine over to someone hopefully for a good service I am attached to the machine but the poor thing does need some attention. I managed to change the pump last year with help from my neighbour.

P.S. If it's the actual motor gear which has worn (and, let's face it, that's the one which turns fastest/has least teeth/wears them out quickly) I have quite a lot of timer motors lying about. In my own experience, though, these problems tend to occur where the continuous running part of the timer meets the 'timed' area of the timer... Just a thought....

I am not really sure what is up with the timer it's as if it gets stuck and u can hear it just clicking like it's trying to advance on but just gets stuck.

Yeah... The clicking will be either worn gear teeth jumping over each other, or a worn drive pawl slipping. Either way, not good. No luck with a timer so far, but I have several more boxes of assorted stuff to dig out when the weather is dry enough.

Crouzet 879 Timers

Hello Dave and Richard, you could just change the motor drive and tumbler gear, this is where the wear occurs, as the stepper motor comes on to turn the tumbler the teeth wear.
If you had a working timer with the same drive you could just remove the whole timer and remove the two nuts and bolts that hold it all together and put the working one on, bit fiddly but totally possible, and also you wouldn't have to do a complete re-wire job just the wires on the rear terminal block, the only gears you would have to time up would be rocker motor gears and that's easy
Just a thought.

Ps yes it is a Crouzet 879 type some have "H1" after the 879 but they are the same.

Bad news

Sadly I've not turned up a Crouzet 879. :-(

I have, however, turned up various weird and wonderful timers, which I shall photograph and list in 'Shopper's Square', in case they may be useful to others.

Congrats on the timer, my A3110 needs a new timer too - it sticks towards the rinse portion of the dial, it will continue spinning for eternity until you move it onto the second rinse.  Another job on the to-do list, even more difficult when the collection is 200 miles away!

Yeah thats where mine sticks, sticks on spin cycle or it sticks on spin and drain but starts and stops spinning and draining the drum just rocks back and forth!

Glad you've got a new timer... Make LOTS of notes and take LOTS of GOOD photographs before you disconnect anything

Well things have moved on a bit since getting your timer..............deep intake of breath...............I have now fitted all the link wires I was talking about to you about so it can be fitted in your machine and the machines wiring loom connected up when it is sorted out between you mike and mat

Ps the grubby bit at the back is where I have scribed "A"&"B" into the casing and used marker to make it stand out, I often forget which is which when I am doing these :-0!
