I have a kitchen full of GE appliances that were given to me during aneighbor's remodel. Early on the freezer drawer would come off the track. When I called 1-800-GE-Cares and scheduled service, I was advised I could purchase a service contract for $87.00 and wait 30 days to schedule service. Sounded good to me and so I did. The drawer glide replacement would have cost $238.00. Last fall the a piece broke off the ice maker and it would dribble on the drawer glide freezing the freezer shut, so I switched it off. In the hot spell last week the fridge held temps but the freezer would bounce between -7 and 26. I called GE cares and a new computer controll board was installed. The service tech showed me how to reattach the separater and I have ice. The cost $00. Renewal on the contract was $91.00. $178.00 for two expensive service calls. I got lucky.
