Hi Mike

Thanks for the info. That does look like the right door seal as the machine does have a chevron drum. The chrome band is held together with a small clip at the bottom. There is a small hole either side of this and you basically pull them towards each other which releases the clip and then you can remove the band and then the seal. Will give the sealant band a go as well as would rather keep it so I can take it apart easily in future if I need too.

Can you date the machine with the serial number? Yep I'm looking forward to making some vids too!

I knew I could depend on you to have the list. Very helpful. General service information for Servis seems very thin on the ground considering their nationwide network. I guess there were a lot of disgruntled engineers at the time they went under who probably ditched stuff. Fingers crossed there is some stuff out there that might surface.

Hopefully I can get on and get it up and running again soon as a treat to myself for my birthday :))

Mike - I'm not sure if I'm being really dumb (highly likely) but I spent hours on't tinternet last night looking for sealant bands and band on a roll but am still unsure which would be suitable. Any chance of a cheeky link so I can go ahead and order? I ordered the door seal straight away so thanks for that.

Tub seal

Hello Steve

As you are having bother finding the seal for the Servis drum try locating one for a Hoover instead as they are of a similar ilk it may be a little too big but you can trim it. If memory serves me well its just triangular shaped foam that compresses around the edge thus sealing the tub hope this helps?

Thanks for this. I will look out for it. I've one last chance at sourcing the Servis one so just waiting to hear back but if that doesn't come off then ill try the hoover one. I'm assuming you mean one from the A**** series?

Steve! Beautiful washer! Love it! Sadly my Servis 3305 needs a pressure switch pipe as that and the seal are causing a very helpful flood in the garage. So fingers crossed, there won't be anything more leaking so I can switch the 3305 with the WM64. I'll replace it tomorrow, too tired lol and hopefully swap them on Sunday evening. I can't get the front retaining band on, it's such a stupid design, I've broken a few tools trying to put it on, but then decided to just take it off and leave it off lol! It doesn't leak from the seal, the only problem now is the pressure tube. Got a few spare from Hotpoint WMA/WT machines, hopefully that'll work.

The 9605 will hopefully be going to LavamatJon soon, we're on the stupid expensive water meter. And I'm not a fan of it anymore.

Hope this goes okay, I've never attempted a Servis bearing change and never wish to ! Aah well!

Will let you know how it goes!

Does it have to be a genuine seal?

I split a Hotpoint tub and that has a plain black foam seal which you could use on the rear of the Servis it may be a little long but you can cut it and ensure the joins at the top !

Service Dyer

Finally got to take a photo steve.

The dryer is buried at the back of the garage,Unfortunatly because there is a bit of a leak the place is damp and everything getting very moldy.Anyways nothing a good clean wont cure.Did plug it in, and all is well.

I would also advise leaving the outer clamp band off, some going on 20 years ago. I changed the door boot on one of these and ended up in casualty, as a result of trying to get that steel band back on. I almost had the thing on with the aid of some pipe grips, they slipped and blood everywhere, caught the side of my eyebrow.

The clamp was left off and it went on to work perfectly for many years, I've learnt my lesson and try to go about these sorts of jobs with a little more skill and a bit less force.

Great all these Servis machines being restored at the moment.

Good news folks. I have located a tub seal which is on its way along with a set of new wheels as the original ones are mashed up so perseverance pays off sometimes. Can't wait to get it up and running and thanks all for the advice and information.

Hi Chris - good luck getting your machine up and running I'm sure you'll manage. I managed to get the front band back on on my machine but that is with the existing door seal so might be another story with the new seal.

Noted Mathew. I am always injuring myself but normally don't notice until I see blood on something. I did manage to almost pierce my cheek with a screwdriver once over but generally I'm more worried about damaging the machine and scratching it or worse!

Anyway, I'll let you know how I get on and hopefully it will be up and running in a couple of weeks town and have a nice matching dryer to boot and I'll have to get some videos to share.

Well done Steve, look forward to seeing it up and running soon, funny thing that Mathew reminded me , have seen more Servis without the band, the metal onew didnt last long before they made them white plastic - the compact and slimline range never had them on...

Yes Servis wheels tended to Flatten or split and come off over time, make sure you watch the base edges nr the wheels as they tend to dig the floor if tilted!!

Been doing some more research and you have an even rarer model, look at the serial number and you will see the "R" on the plate - it stands for factory renovation, these where offered to customers by the engineers or Servis themselves for a reduced complimentary price to wxisting customers - usually test models rejunvenated for resale!!
 
Update

Well the parts arrived and after a bit of a struggle I fitted the new tub and door seals and straightened the door. I couldn't get the band back on properly and after Mathew's tale I wasn't going to end up in A&E!! Will do a temporary fix with some wire.

At first bingo - no leaks - well from the front!! There was a little bit of water at the rear at the end so need to investigate further. I am more convinced that the bearing and seal has gone though. If I turn the drum by hand there is a rubbery squeaking noise and it is rumbling on spin. So I guess that will be the next job but I'm happy it's useable and working once again for the minute especially as its a rare one - cheers Mike for that.

Here it is doing its first wash in my place. Will have to do some videos soon too.

Puzzled

Whilst on eBay the other day I noticed this Servis Quartz which I'd never seen or knew existed. I guess it was a crossover model from the time Servis went bust using up all the old parts! Anyone got any more information on this? It's ended on eBay but I've put the link in.

Ps thanks Chris for the courier recommendation. Have had to get my credit card company to claim back against Parcelmonkey so a bit of a lesson there!

Arghhhh

I know everyone is probably bored to bits with this but I thought I'd do a final update on this until I get it sorted and then I'll do a new thread. Anyway I decided to investigate the leak during a wash to see what was going on ready to video it as discussed. The leak is coming from the hole by the bearing which indicates that as I've suspected, the bearing seal has gone which is why it is so noisy on spin. So as predicted, I will have to do a bearing change. Have just accepted an offer in the house so that might have to wait until I've moved - and hopefully will get a workshop!!

However, I could hear another noise while it was washing and it has turned out that one of the spokes on the pulley has fractured :( It's such a fine fracture I hadn't noticed it before. Anyway, I've found a replacement one but it is £50. Is it possible to repair this or will I have to fork out?
