I would also advise leaving the outer clamp band off, some going on 20 years ago. I changed the door boot on one of these and ended up in casualty, as a result of trying to get that steel band back on. I almost had the thing on with the aid of some pipe grips, they slipped and blood everywhere, caught the side of my eyebrow.
The clamp was left off and it went on to work perfectly for many years, I've learnt my lesson and try to go about these sorts of jobs with a little more skill and a bit less force.
Great all these Servis machines being restored at the moment.
