Help Support :

Have yet to find a way to repair these....

sorry to say but you could try drilling it and screwing a plate to it.

I would have thought you can find a replacement for a lot less than £50 !! Whats it made of ??? lol

Do you have any other pulleys around? Try a Hoover 1100 I think they are a similar size.

Good luck with the move hope it goes ok

great thread about the Quartz, nice 2 see that another 1 has been saved. I grew up with 1 4 many years as an Electra Microelectronic 900 6950E which was a great machine with it's nice water levels and spin-drains, I know 1 came up on eBay in 2007 but sadly I didn't buy it back :( but I'll post a link about it under my old name platinum6.

Btw, the Antonio Merloni made Quartz's were made but weren't as popular as it's British made counterparts, I have a Servis brochure dated September 1994 with that model in it and we're produced from about 1991 til 1995/96, which I think is about right 4 those rare models. :)

Hi Austin

I did think about putting a plate on it but was worried it might upset the balance and the metal is deceptively thin. Wasn't sure if there is some kind of glue for metal that might work. I did also think about another make of pulley. Do the Hoover ones have the same fixing?

Hi Alan. Would love to see that brochure if you are able to upload. The Electra version of the Quartz is really smart. Are there any AW members with one I wonder?

Weren't Servis completely taken over by Merloni in 1991 and therefore production of the original Quartz ceased and was replaced with the 4 paddle drum version?

Yes..

This was the first crossover model as a merloni machine, would like to know if the programmer is the same as the UK Quartz, did enquire about this washer but had gone already..
SESeve, did you get this machine?

Steve, have never seen a cracked drum pulley on any Servis, lots on Hotpoint, I'm sure your local repair shop might have spares, will check my local, as it happens Dads Quartz is now needing a door boot, so will stick a set of brushes in and do the pump at the same time, it does still have the SpinCare drum...Also, keep adding to this thread with your updates, it will build a great store of information!!

Hi Alan, I wasnt aware Servis did spin drains, do you mean the distribution drain? or did the Electra have different programming!!

Aquacycle, yes, it was replaced with the AM built models by the time they took over Servis, but they weren't strong sellers.

chestermikeuk, yes, I did mean distribution-drains, all Quartz's would be programmed the same way. :)

Double trouble

Hi Mike

No I didn't go for it - it sold really quick under a buy it now I guess. Would love to see some more info on this model. Anyway, back to my quartz and I'm trying to source a replacement. I bought it from a house clearance place so it might have been them wheeling it in and out! Once I source one I will replace the bearing at the same time as I know it has definitely gone because........

I've bought another Quartz eek!

Too good to be true

It wouldn't power up. The fuse was missing in the plug but that didn't solve it. A look at the power card explains it all

And the connection on the valve is blackened. Question is what has caused it? I'm guessing the solenoid has failed which has popped the triac. Not sure whether to try repairing the board myself if I can get the right components or whether it will need more specialist attention. Any advice ?

I'd swap the valve and the boards from the brown panelled Quartz into the grey panelled Quartz and just save the grey one. When I hear the word "Quartz" I think fondly of the grey one as they seem much more iconic than the brown one.

SpinCare Drum

Steve,

If you ever have a spare, I'd pay good money to get hold of a SpinCare Drum.

The Quartz 6036G I've just bought off ZodaWash has a Chevron drum.

Steve's/ZodaWash's going to deliver the Quartz later this month to me.

Hi steve.

Been occupied with moving house the last couple of weeks and not really paid much attention to whats been going on in the world of vintage appliances.

Lovely to come on a catch up session and find that you have managed to acquire a 6030!
Of all the piano key machines Servis produced, I agree with James that the 6030 and its UBER RARE full panel door 6031 sibling have just that little bit extra over the other schemes.
I dont know what it is - perhaps its cause a family member had one? Who can say.

Either way, as you say yourself, you have a very clean example and I have everything crossed that you are able to get it re-energised successfully.
