Withe the dreaded spin can lid double interlock, to turn off spinner, move arm on outer spin lid to switch motor off and activate brake, open outer lid, then slide lever to open inner spin lid, a right pain!!, this ones due a spa treatment those painted washdeck consoles didnt take kindly to hot water & detergent etc..[this post was last edited: 9/27/2011-18:16]

MK3 pear shaped spin can

Hello Mike if what you say is right and I am sure you are then someone must have changed the original spinner on Sybil as she has the pear shaped drum with 2 rows of holes so far up I have never seen it before.
I know my mums MK1 had a solid drum with slots at the top only my MK3 I had "and like a twat gave away" was also solid with a row of holes near the top maybe the ones I had were friday washers ????

The controls now offer us, wash timer with a position at twenty five to for the electric pump, and the spinner offers us spin and pump, which means in this position and the lid open you can have the pump on for overflow rinsing etc...also you can drain all the water out of the spinner before starting to spin - less wear & tear on the motor & drive

That MK3 in the last post was my Grandmothers model when I was growing up. Loved using it, i remember the gentle ticking of the wash timer, washing the machine eat the sheets when you dipped one end in the wash. I also remember running like hell in the early years whenever grandma put the spinner on, wasn't too fond of the noise it made on start up lol.

I just had a thought, that machine was shoved in grandmas shed a back in about 1997 because it needed a new spinner motor. I don't remember it being moved while I was living in England. I'm wondering if its still there, that would be awesome to see again. Chances are my uncle will have shifted everything out of the shed but then again he might not have...Will have to see when i am there in November :-)
