Servis Twintubs...

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

What Do You Have??

You have the MKII (2) Model 30, this was Servis`s best selling washing machine of the day!!! it was produced in White, or Cream and also one with the "ServisAire" gas burner so it "Washed With Electric & Boiled By Gas"....these where the most solid of twintubs, solid metal frame base, with thick panel sides & an enamel top!! It was also the model that featured the "TwinLine Hose" the famous Servis Two Hoses In One!!

Mum had hers from 1963 until 1978 and it washed for us family of 6 at least three times a week, Mon,Wed,Fri & poss Sat morning as well... thats a lot of cycles!!!

I can't imagine how

A gas burner could work under that tub but obviously it did.
Do you have one mike?
I seem to remember my grandma lighting the gas under her electric washing machine.
It must have been the early 70s. I don't remember what machine it was but I certainly remember it was only an old round pin 5 amp plug in the kitchen so presumably it wasn't strong enough to supply a washer heater.
I am incredibly proud to have a servis twin tub even if it is two machines made into one.
It really is a very solid old bird and you can just feel the quality when you use her.
I used my hoovermatic yesterday , decided to boil my works aprons, believe me 8 pairs of apron strings and a hoovermatic are not a good combination!

I didn't realise

That such an automated twin tub was made by servis , but as you know I'm very anti automatic , still it is very nice to see such a great machine.
You certainly have a fine collection.
Did any of the members buy the flatly single tub on eBay a couple of years ago?
I would love to know what happened to it.

Sounds very similar

To the hoovermatic which started to wash when a certain temperature was reached.
I tend to go by the old method, if it too hot to put my hands in , it's hot enough to wash in!

Servis Supertwin MKIII (3) Model 42 - Year 1966

This is the revamped machine from1971 with the new sleeker look, the controls are now located on the top right of console, this model still had the original washtub with Hi-Zone Wash Action, the panels are a lot thinner & the washdeck is metal with a painted finish...the spinner was a new designunique to this model, phase 1 was a wider shallower spincan with holes all over..., phase two was a large pearshaped spincan with a row of holes near the base, these only existed on this model!!![this post was last edited: 9/27/2011-18:10]
