1969 Gerstenslager Bookmobile

Here is my 1969 Gerstenslager Bookmobile. It's a 549 cu.in. rear-engine pusher w/ a 5 speed manual transmission. We were converting this into a motorhome. But, unfortunately, the roof would never stop leaking for us. Now, with the price of gas, we don't even want to start it, much less drive it. I think we are going to send this one away soon, as the weather is killing it. This is an older pic of it. It looks a little rougher right now. I've tried to sell it a few times, but it's such a bohemoth.

well I can't resist the car thread

Here is the vintage washer hauler in action- 1953 Chevy Suburban - that's Dick_S and me as I picked up the Westy's

Here is my other car at this very moment

I'm taking the chrome off in order to paint it metallic blue. I last painted it in 1986 so it is about time. Had the car 23 years. Runs like a top, though.

Northwesty---- is that Buick a "Super"? Dynaflow? Power Steering? I am trying to figure out the vintage but from this angle can't tell if it has the "bucktooth"(early '50's) grill on it or a'53? Very kool.
That Suburban is really nice too, love the paint. Any power assist at all or all muscle?

Oops

It's a 1951 Buick Special Delux, no power Steering. Actually I looked around for a manual shift since they had a little more oomph. I think 80% were the Dynaflow so it is a fairly rare car. So, that is the smallest Buick they made that year, and it is bigger than the Suburban!

Greg - that is one HOT Plymouth - dig the color. I must ask though - did you, or a previous owner install the Keystones? *shutter* lol I bet it would scoot pretty well with a 318 - drop even a 340 in there and you have a real barn burner there ~

Put the windows down and let the bass out...

You guys are too old school about the hood.lol! More often than not, a nice car is referred to as "the whip" or "my whip" or "bad ass whip"

Here is one of mine

ghost riding the whip

Is what we sometimes do with this one. Put the car into "low" everyone gets out of the car, dance around it, climb on the bumpers or door jambs, sit on the trunk and fenders, and ride and wave, high fivez, run around the car a couple times, then everybody get back in the car,and drive away. All while the car is still moving in low gear.

Thats how we ghost ride this whip

(And this is the only one of mine we ghost ride)
