My dishwasher seems to be working great, clean dishes and cycling fine. But sometimes the dishes, especially glasses, come out smelling bad. I clean the easy to remove ring regularly and occasionally remove and clean the filtering part shown below. I'm not sure you can see it in the photo, but food particles are collecting just under the filter fabric. Is this normal? Anything else I should check/clean? Thanks!

Have you checked the hole on the underside of the wash arm to see if it's open? That spray is supposed to clean the filter you show. Those food particles in the sump should not be there. that and the dirty filter could be what's causing the stinky smell.  Dishwashers with only one after-rinse do not allow any margin of error in operation.

From the picture of your DWs sump you can see the pink fungus growing there, I am sure the dishes more than smell.

Try using a combination of either and or more detergents, better detergents, be sure you are putting detergent in both cups and are the dispensers opening properly to dispense the detergent.

I don't know all the water conditions and usage at your house, but I would 1/2 fill the left cup with a liquid detergent that contains Chlorine Bleach and in the Rt cup use a premium detergent tablet from Cascade or Electosol.

Also use the heavy wash cycle and if your model has a button for a hotter wash use it.

Is your water hot enough???? It looks like you have a mold problem in your machine usually caused by water that is not hot enough and by using non chlorine dishwasher detergent, I would make sure you have 130-140 degree water coming into the machine and use Cascade powder detergent in the dark green box.
