My Frigidaire top-load washing machine still has its original snubber ring from 2003. I’m not even joking!

As any part on appliances, (especially ones that take on a huge task), it will eventually wear out over time. It doesn’t do it every time I use the machine, but there are instances where I can hear a loud banging noise after it’s done draining out the water.

I’m tired of putting my washer through a tremendous amount of abuse, so I’ve decided to look online to find a replacement— but I ran into an issue: Frigidaire has discontinued this particular part. I’ve looked everywhere on the internet to see if I could find this part, and it seems to me that this has become a rare part for my model. Now, I am well aware of the fact that manufactures have a bad habit of purposely discontinuing parts for older units; and I honestly believe that it hasn’t achieved their goal. A lot of people will fix their perfectly good machine unit it’s no longer worth it. They should also realize that machines that are meant to last a life time is like an investment that is long-term, (especially when the economy turns into shit).

I’m wondering if anyone knows a snubber ring that could be a substitute for my snubber ring (5308002385). I would really appreciate it if someone can help me get this issue resolved. Getting a crappy HE washer would be a disaster since not only do they give an inadequate amount of water, but they simply do not clean your clothes.

Snubber ring replacement on a 2003 Frigidaire top load washer

Hi, welcome to the group, as an appliance repair tech that’s been repairing appliances for over 50 years and still doing it every day. I have never seen a bad snubber ring on a Frigidaire top washer these do not necessarily wear out.

I would check the snubber ring and see if it has become oily or maybe even detergent as splashed over the tub and gotten on it that will tend to make it move a little too easily and possibly get off balance more easily, if that’s the case, I would clean it thoroughly other than that it’ll probably far out last that machine.

No washing machine is meant to last lifetime. Anything that deals with water has a finite life, you certainly can extend the life of machines like this considerably with a little bit of repair, which I believe in.

Don’t be afraid of a new washer. You will be amazed how much better a new front load washer will clean your Clothing when the day comes. You’ll wonder why you ever use the old machine.
