My new Induction Range arrived and replaced the 25+ year old failing Jenn Air with its 2 speed burners with: "intent to cook" and "Sahara"settings! Its a beauty, black stainless steel. Wow does the oven work!  I like the large cooking zone for my big pots. The small burner will hold melted chocolate easy. The oven has a ton of nice features, like keep warm, bread proofing, fermenting, yogurt making, and there is a warming drawer at the bottom! Most of all what attracted me were the knob controls for the burners, I hate those little buttons with numbers you count! Give me a dial, and these dials are like gas cooktops, you push in to turn BUT you can turn them in either direction! Bonus they are marked with cooking speeds- like simmer , low medium , high! Who the hell knows what 3, or 6, or 9 means !! I'm set to hunker down with a Quarantini and cook up a storm these next few weeks.

Other timely warnings include

Do Not Keep Pet Birds in the Kitchen!

 

Do not dry newspaper in the oven!

Do not store clothing on top of the range!

 

Do not climb into the oven!

 

I think those are all sensible don't you?

 

It has a very sensitive feedback mechanism and so unfortunately will not accept my vintage waterless cookware which works fine on my Kenmore Induction and my Miele Induction. But I can work around that.

New induction Samsung Range

Wow Congratulations on your new range, I totally agree that cook-tops should use knobs instead of tedious touch controls.

 

Jeff and I specked a SS induction range for our cousin David & Kim when they redid their house in Chevy Chase two years ago, I am surprised that you did not order the dual oven feature where there is a divider that slides in the oven, I liked that feature almost as much as the blue lights around the burners.

 

We were discussing adding the blue lights to induction CTs 30 years ago, I even suggested that you should be able to switch them from blue to red for users that are more comfortable cooking on electric, red would also be safer around children as red is assoated with heat.

 

Let us know what you cook up, [ remember your diet, LOL ]

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino;">Your new range is beautiful.  Is that a Wear Ever Chicken Fryer on the stove top?  I had one years ago!!  I didn't realize there was an issue with people with pacemakers.  I love the feature with the lights and those big knobs--very manly.  :)</span>

 

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino;">I have a Samsung oven with the divider and love it.  I just used it yesterday.  I was using convection in the top and regular heat in the bottom.  Very cool feature.</span>

Surprised to not see a big logo on this. Or am I missing seeing it?

Yeah I was on the fence about the double oven but I can see its use.  But Raph how do you cook a 20 pound turkey? Does the divider come out? 
I have a double oven Thermadore set sitting in the basement that I still intend to use so I didnt make this a priority. Boy that oven heats FAST! 

 

Ralph,  that is not a chicken fryer but it will fry chicken under pressure! That is my 35+ year old Pro Selections Super Cooker ( no longer made by FAGOR ) Love that thing I use it almost every week.

We saw it at Best Buy yesterday. All the employees were wearing face masks.
While we still really like our 2007 model year GE Profile dual fuel, I'd consider one. Not sure about hubby, he really likes gas. The only thing I notice is the oven door doesn't have that "heavy" feel like our GE. For some reason I like that it feels substantial.
As far as krauting it up goes, companies print safety warnings these days to cover themselves from stupid law suits. Face it, some are just plain "sue crazy".
 
Divider

 

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino;">Yes it comes out so you use it as one big oven or two small ones.  It's very flexible.  I use it more as one oven than I do as two but it is nice to have.  Hubby hated the toaster oven on the counter so I use the divider and heat half the oven when I would normally use the toaster oven.  When you slide out the divider the screen changes to show its one oven.</span>

 

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino;">I had one that looked exactly like that and it was a chicken fryer under pressure.  Made the BEST fried chicken.  I'm not sure whatever happened to it.</span>

making something right.  Stand clear of their refrigerators.

 

I've worked on my huge french door model 3 times now and I think I finally got the defrost issue fixed once and for all.  Had to add an extra defrost heater in the evap core in the main food compartment. Also moved the defrost sensor closer to the main line coming into this evap core. This allows for longer defrost cycles to have a chance to melt the ice build-up.  As for the upper ice maker, no hope for that POS. I love how the engineers allowed only a 1/4" clearance where the ice has to fall thru just past the ice tray area. If there is any frost in this area, the ice gets wedged and can't fall into the ice bin.

 

I did fix this issue eventually by adding a water valve in the water supply line going to the ice maker .... so as to reduce the size of the ice cube and now it is small enough to make it into the ice bin w/o getting stuck on its way down. PFFT  No issues with the lower ice maker thank goodness.

Nice range! Congratulations! We are planning a kitchen remodel and are considering this range. Is the bottom drawer for warming or just storage?

Ralph, regarding the double oven, when using both does each oven hold it's own temp fairly accurately? Can the divider be left in for self cleaning?
 
Dual Flex Oven

 

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino;">As far as the temps are concerned, so far so good.  There a limitations to what you can do at the same time.  For example, I can convection in the top and bottom at the same time but I can't do radiant heat in both.  I can do convection at the top only with radiant on the bottom.  The heating element in the lower oven is hidden.  I can only use Steam as a total oven but not the top or bottom.  I have not found a scenario yet where the combinations haven't worked for what I do.</span>

 

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino;">I don't think you can leave the divider in while self cleaning but mine hasn't been dirty enough to worry about it.  I tend to wipe up spills as they happen and while it's hot.  The only issue I have is the window not getting clean.  I have to try some oven cleaner on that.  In one picture you can see where I was cooking two things at once and the other you can see the window.  I hate that and will try come oven cleaner when I think to buy it.</span>

 

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino;">If you like to bake you will love this oven.  This is a picture proofing Pandesol.  I use the bread proofing all the time for bread, pizza, etc.</span>

Very nice stove you have there, Jon! I tend to shy away from anything Samsung after dealing with a fridge by them that died after 4 short years and the Samsung built Neptunes that I had back in 2005 that bit the dust after 3 years. But that said, I hope that they have finally got their act together and this stove lasts you. It looks pretty rugged and well made. Time will tell. I do like that feature where it lights your pots showing which one is on and the heating intensity.
