So I picked up a dryer today...

Ignorance and stubbornness are such wasters of time and life and joy. The Electronic Control Maytag is one of the best dryers to operate on 120 volt service, not because of the speed, which it does not have because of the low wattage heating element, even on 240, but because of the sureness of the electronic control. When I moved to my Greenbelt house, I did not have a 240 volt line for the DE806 so John walked me through putting a Maytag washer cord on her and I used her that way for a few months. Since I moved in the fall, I backed her up to a hot radiator to provide extra heat and dried clothes perfectly, even peppermint press shirts and pants until John put in a dryer circuit. Even when not running, the whole cabinet stayed nice and warm.
That poor woman, a brand new DE806 in the garage and she has to line dry her whole life. They should have hooked the husband up to a 220v line.
(BTW, wouldn't that chrome strip indicate no later than a 1971 vintage, thus making it 43 years old?)

Chrome strip hung around until March of 1975. It went away with introduction of the "sun-glow gold" panel strip and spun aluminum timer dial.

New DE806 Maytag Dryer
Great save Andy, If I were you I would install this new dryer under the cabinet and top of that beautiful DE906 that Brain brought you last month.
It is always such fun to find a new vintage appliance, I am bringing an almost NEW Maytag laundry appliance back with me from our trip.

Score! Im jealous. That's a real find, a real nice find indeed! I couldn't put a machine like that into service. Id build a podium for it in its honor, but could never stand to break that beauty in LOL.

Thank you all for your kind words. I'm still pinching myself. I will use it but sparingly as to keep it looking beautiful.
Before I put it into service, I will most likely change the belts as they seem to both have permanent flat spots from sitting. That or hear more belt noise. I had just wanted to post pictures so that other younger people like myself who have never had a chance to see what a brand new Halo looks like will now be able to.
