Spider Damage

OK, I've read a lot about how easily the spider can be ruined on FL machines. Is it just a sudsing issue and not a water level issue? If that's the case, I will definitely want to increase the water level on my Affinity. The factory settings are absolutely inadequate, and I'm tired of adding water manually in order to effect decent laundering results.

I'm very impressed by your prowess to trick a new machine like that. I imagine it raises all the levels across the board including wash. Wonder if there's a way to keep the wash level low but the rinses high up the glass?

I think you would need two seperate cicuits to the MB and two pressure switches to do that. I'm only up to 4 gallons about for a fill, the old Duos used 7 gallons on a fill so I am still saving 3 gallons per fill.

I am getting to really like this machine the more I use it.

Wow.. I can't believe it has been six years since I've read this thread.

I guess it is safe to say that my own machine is out of warranty now. Maybe by posting this, I might jinx things.

Thanks to this thread, it gave me the confidence to make this minor modification to my machine. After I adjusted the water level on my machine, by two full turns, it brought the water level up to the lip of the tub, completely covering the baffle. Good enough!

In doing this, it considerably improved the rinsing ability of the machine and negated the need for a third rinse. I only find myself using a third rinse if I use Fabric softener, which I rarely use anyway.

In saying that, has anyone with one of the newer electronic SQ machines been able to adjust water levels? Or are they a bit smarter and use different water levels for the wash and rinse?

Also, I suppose I should get up off my butt and take a good picture of what the water level in the tub looks like without any clothes in it...
