So my dishwasher died and other stuff in the kitchen

Some of you may remember a thread i posted a while ago about spraying my dishwasher (from the archive - http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?40609)

Well earlier this week it decided my kitchen needed a swimming pool, lucky i was in when it happened as i caught it before much water leaked out. I managed to find the lower door seal had failed BUT in my efforts to remove it i managed to bend the metal of the door where it was pushed into so i could not even get the old one back in

Cheaply made sums this dishwasher up

So i needed a replacement, while looking around me and my Mrs found a lot of slimline machines used the same tub, inner door and lower seal so that ruled out a lot of machines.

We went to the local dinted appliance place and by chance he had a unused Bosch slimline in black, so after handing over some pieces of paper with the queens head on them we have a new machine, here it is sat next to the black Gorenje washer

Something i miss about the old Chinese made Hotpoint are the dedicated intensive cycle and half load options. The Bosch does not have a half load or a dedicated intensive, it just uses the Auto cycle but it seems good enough so far. Also it has nothing to tell you what part of the cycle it is on, just the countdown timer.

In other posts to this thread i will show the other bits i have in the kitchen

BTW the hotpoint will live on because i am breaking it for bits and selling them, on so it should keep other machines going

So as you can see the washer in the pic above its only fair the dryer gets a look in as well

This is the cupboard off the kitchen the dryer lives in. The PC on the shelf aboive the dryer runs a Ubuntu and XBMC connected to a gigabit switch and therefore my media server (witing still to be tidied up)

A patch panel for speaker terminals, cables and a power button that turns the PC on and off

This is hooked into the TV on the wall meaning i can watch any movie/tv show i have on the server as well as Internet radio and MP3's on the server all controllable by either remote control or my Android phone

in this pic you can also see the large (for UK standards) Fridge/Freezer, that is a Hoover - again from the dinted appliance store (only damage on it is on the side we dont see)

The large black cupboard is the pull out larder unit

So on the other side of the kitchen to the screen is the Oven

Integrated Gas over, Integrated Gas hob and a touch control extractor unit with a black glass splashback behind the hob and the obligatory George Foreman grill next to the hob

I know what you mean by swimming pools in the kitchen, our old washer, Ecologic 800, once decided that the door should pop open halfway through a wash with a half-way-up-the-door water level! Thankfully, this was in our old house but it did ruin most of the kitchen! It died not very long after! Funnily enough my greatgrans Ecologic 1300 did the same!

Nice to see you have a nice new Bosch dishwasher, and a Gorenje set to match!

Also i dont know if you get these in America but this is what i use as a deepfat, the Tefal Actifry

I was sceptical but it does "deep fry" chips (As in propper english chips) using only a teaspoon or so of oil

Good ol' deep fryers are those that use lots of oil I say!!! (we don't have one but proper English chips (that's fries to Americans) are those that are hand cut and fried in loads of dripping (Thats animal oil/lard)). But I agree your Tefal is brill' for being healthy.

Thats a very nice dishwasher, and certainly fits well and is the correct colour, even without the need for you to modify it!
Will you be fixing the hotpoint then and putting it back in it's place?
If you want an Intensive cycle on Bosch - it might be worth considering an Active water slim depth model with 70C Intensive programme and Intensive zone extra option too, I think they sell a High Gloss Black version.

Im a Yorkshireman so i agree that chips need to be deep fried in Dripping but the actify is brilliant to make some quickly and then throw bits of it in the dishwasher

The hotpoint is not really repairable because it was the bottom seal on the door that went and while removing this i damaged the inner skin of the door so it wont hold a seal inplace at all

The machine was looked after so from what i can see all the internal plumbing is still almost as new so im going to pull the pump, heater, control board racks, spray arms etc and stick them up on ebay with no reserve to see what they go for to try and recoup some money as I had to struggle to buy the Bosch

I may hate German cars but i can see the German engineering in this Bosch (walsk allover the Chinese engineered Hotpoint TBH)

Indesit Hotpoint dishwasher

If it is anything like my mum's full size machine FDW20, the bottom door seal is not available separately. It comes as part of the door inner!

Horrible cheapness and very tinny noises - but it does wash well, I have to say.

nice set up!
i dissagree on the actifry, after the watchdog report on them many moons ago i dont really trust them, i perfer the philips air fryer.
