So what's the deal with the Oasis/Cabrio/Bravo nowadays?

So I received a message today asking me if I had any issues with my Oasis HE set (almost 3 years old), like problems with the control board. I've been so busy with high school these past few years that I haven't been up-to-date with these sets anymore, and I'm lucky if I can find time to do laundry! I took a quick look online and saw that lots of owners are having problems with the control board giving out prematurely, along with leaking right out of the box? This came as quite a shock to me.

What's the deal? My washer hasn't had any control board issues since I got it, and the only thing that may bother me about it is that the detergent dispenser may occasionally leak during the Sheets/Towels cycle, but that's about it. I know they released several revisions of the machine since it came out, so do these issues only plague the later models? Is there a fix for the detergent dispenser for early models like mine? Any updates or recalls I should be aware of?

PS: Sorry I haven't posted anything new lately, like videos or updates, but Sophomore/Junior year in high school is exhausting!

My Kenmore Oasis Agi version hasn't given us any problems since we purchased it in May 2007.

There has been a lot of problems with the rotor position sensor/ wire harness at the motor. They have a kit to replace both parts. The connection between the sensor and harness is weak and comunication with the main control board is lost. This causes the board to cancel the cycle and display a fault code. I have a feeling that a lot of boards are replaced uneccessarily. Although I have had a few that really did need the board. Ed

Yor're referring to the 'F-51' code on the beltless direct drive motor design. I've seen a few. They want you to replace the rotor, wiring harness with RPS sensor (they force you to do the whole harness by changing the shape of the sensor so it won't connect to the old harness) and the machine control board. There is also a rework on some of the older agitator design Cabrios (not the 'agitator-less' disk design)for washability issues. It involves changing the agitator itself.

I've always wondered what's the reason for the RPS trouble in these machines. Neither of my F&Ps (one nine years old, one four years) has had any trouble with that (or anything else).

It will be three years in august for the Cabrio here! No Problems!!! I works really well. I just need to figure out how to get some stains off porcelain top around the detergent dispenser... People not knowing how to put detergent in correctly LOL. Anyone know how to get these marks off? Its like its eating the finish but it can be removed because I can scratch it off with my fignernail.

So if I call Sears telling them my clothes are getting balled up and tangled they will replace the impeller in my machine? I got the extended warranty, plus I just did a load of long sleeve shirts and it would be great if I didn't have to untangle a bunch of them when I take them out...

Tub ring changed, too!

"The Tub Ring on HE Top Loads have been modified to direct all of the water back into the Tub in order to stop an intermittent water leak, usually found at the front left corner of the washer. With the original tub ring, water may collect on the Tub Ring as water enters from the Detergent Dispenser and then drip onto the floor. The part numbers have not changed. W10130807 is for the impeller models and W10130806 is for the agitator models. All parts in Whirlpools inventory have been purged to the modified part."

I have a new problem to add to the list. We have owned our Cabrio agi for nearly 2 years. No problems at all. Now we have noticed black grease/oil dripping from the holes in the motor cover located at the drive motor area. This grease/oil is splattered all over the bottom of the washer and has dripped onto the floor directly below the motor cover.

What could this be? My husband is a DIYer and has no intention of calling in a service tech.
Has anyone else experienced this and could possibly lend us a few pointers?
I am currently using it status-quo until hubby finds a weekend where he can take apart the machine.

If you were technical and handy would you try this job?

Service Bulletins: I wonder why the Kenmore brand isn't listed along with Maytag, Roper, etc. Doesn't Whirlpool make Kenmore's Oasis machine?

Thanks to dadoes and washer man over on another laundry forum we now know how to start tackling this problem.

Let's hope it is an easy fix and one that does not cost too much.

Frigilux, the reason you do not see Kenmore listed is that WP is just a contract manufacturer for Kenmore. When we go to service school, the WP service rep will not even mention Kenmore, as it is Sears' and he is not authorized by the company to mention the product or discuss repairing a Kenmore. It's strange, but that's today's world.
