Have been trying to use up some of the products in my stash and thus cracked open a box of "Burst" detergent by CP to see what there is. While initially happy with results noticed something odd about the rinse water as it drained into sink.
Often there would be a scum and quite a lot of not dissolved particles floating about. So decided to do some unscientific testing earlier today.
Took a small jar, filled it with hot water then added a bit of the Burst powder. Shook the thing for a few moments, then awaited. Water was not totally clear and you could see bits floating about. Even after allowing to stand for >10 minutes there still was lots of "dust" floating about.
Next tried the same with vintage All (with Bleach, Borax, and Brighteners) powder. No dust, water remains quite clear with perhaps a few bits of not dissolved detergent at bottom of jar.
Did not have time to pursue the matter further, and since my camera was not charged didn't take pics. However am here to say obviously the Burst will be regulated to second string. To use it up will wash things like rags or what not.
Did some bed linens last night in the AEG with vintage Surf and while the water was cloudy (this is a non-phosphate product built with washing soda, so no surprise there) it rinsed cleanly and left no scum film in draining sink.
Burst powder looks like it may contain lots of filler or something. Know it has phosphates but am assuming more of SHMP than STPP since the stuff is clumping up like mad since box was opened. OTOH the STPP laden vintage box of All is still free flowing.
Colgate Palmolive was never a top shelf brand for laundry here in the USA if once recalls, so maybe they cut corners.
