Some fun Corning finds

well, myself as many of you are fans of anything in the Corning blue cornflower pattern.
I picked up this great Corning tray, at first glance it looks like a regular broil and bake tray

but flip it over and you'll find that this is a Corning Electromatic warming tray

Also picked up these coordinating kitchen utensils

I've never seen a warming tray like that one.  Is it immersible, and would food be placed directly on it (since the gutters suggest a carving board), or does it get too hot for that?

 

It also appears to use the same unique power cord as those found on the mid to later production Electromatic percolators.

Warming Tray:

I have one, and yes, it's immersible.

There is a lot of online lore saying that its cord is special and unobtainium, but a standard perc cord fit mine and works perfectly.

Food can go directly on it, though I'd be careful about how long I'd leave something on it if there was a tendency to dry out.

Great find

My Corning warming tray has a cord with an orange dot on one side of the plug and three holes for the male prongs. With the dot up, the tray provides high heat for food in dishes. With the dot down, the tray provides low heat for food placed directly on the tray.

Wow! I've never seen a Corning warming tray before. Great finds, Sam - congratulations!!

I have that tray / A tip to try.

I have that hot tray and had some difficulty understanding how to use it as it gets very hot. Food seemed to cook when placed directly on the tray.
Finally we found a Corning deep baking dish that fit directly on top perfectly within the top hottray recess. When we placed food within the flat Corning baking dish and then placed it upon the tray, the results were better.
We used it to keep sliced turkey warm last Thanksgiving with much success.
