Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

All classics, despite the turquoise. A ROUND dishwasher? Never knew there was such thing. 'Original condition' but rusted? And the Boston poster might have been polite and compressed those 2MB photos, they bombed my antique (W98) computer.

I have two of the 1949 Round GE Portables. Very neat dishwashers but so very labor intensive. These are not automatics. Every step must be manually performed, which makes them so special, IMHO.

A Princess it is!

Yes, right, right and right! (spoken with the voice of Stewie from "Family Guy". (Which means it will have the magnetic detergent dispenser that I have so coveted).

We're exploring that Peabody possibility

Peabody

Is that Mr. Peabody with the WABAC Machine for his pet boy Sherman? We would use the machine for appliance & housewares shopping, but it would have to be programmed to convert today's money & documents into yesterday's, make our clothing match & be large and powerful enough to move a shitload of appliances across time and space safely. Paying cash for things back then would not arouse suspicion. People usually saved for things. Think of all of the old appliance stores we could visit and the fun we could have in old department, dime and hardware stores, especially at Christmas with all of the decorations from those decades.

Remember the Sunday at the Maul of America in August, 2001 when we all went to Sears after brunch to see the NEW HE3t? What would a store in the 50s or 60s think when, what was it 18 or more of us, descended on an appliance department? We would be aliens and then vanish after buying a whole lotta stuff each time we went. Our WABAC would look like a moving van and we would be eager to buy the floor models. "We need it today." Sears would not be able to sell us an extended service plan. Then we would drive away and which would be better: to have the truck just fade to transparent or suddenly disappear in the midst of traffic? I suppose it could be driven to a deserted area before disappearing, but that would not be as much fun. Entrances would have to be more discrete.

I would want to buy a Norge combo and that wild Waste King portable dishwasher with the orange Plastisol interior and the Z-shaped wash arm. I would also be on the lookout for the Revere Ware Deep Well Kettle, probably one of the rarest pieces they ever made.

Sorry this thread was WABACed.

Ooo That Youngstown is HOT`

BUT Where are the racks?? Thats big no no.

I grew up with that GE Dishwasher the Princess, never knew that was what it was called! Ours had the walnut front not the painted metal. And that fridge too! Ours was pink and you could barely hold a thanksgiving dinner in it!

Its perfect for what they are using it for a beverage fridge!

I saved Her Today.

I drove to Ga. today to pick up the RA949 She needs a new power cord and hoses. also a good cleaning. Not sure but I think this is an early version. there is No on off switch you just plug it in. There is a starter relay mounted in the bottom with a overload reset (circut breaker) that sticks out under the model and ser # plate in the back.
