Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

well by knowing this looks like my 2004 whirlpool duet is at its end of lifetime use then since its already 9 years old since it was bough around this month at the same date in 2004, but its still working if after 7 years of use it would of stop working i would of known by now but i beleve that if a washer is well taken care of it can last a long time so i would say 7 years lifespan for a front load washer is an estimate as like i said if well taken care of a machine can last a long time.

Lifetime..

According to appliance repair guys, the lifespan of a washing machine is expected to be 10 years.

BUT!

That is the *average* estimated lifespan. Meaning they combine the estimate for people who care for and use their machines properly, getting 30 years from a set, with the estimates for people who use and abuse their machines, destroying them in 3 or 4 years, and it all ends up averaging out to about 10 years.

I for one think if people use and abuse their poor machine, they have no right to expect it to last much longer than the warranty, but if someone takes good care of a machine, I feel 20 years should be the minimum for it's lifespan.

The problem with many front loaders is that people abuse them in the same way they would abuse a front loader at a laundromat. Usually by overstuffing them and overloading them, only because they can.

I agree that a well built front loader is considerably more expensive to design, engineer and build than a top loader.

The reason for the short lifespan is that the manufacturers cut corners to keep the price down so they can remain competitive. I just wish they wouldn't bump the price up by adding lots of unnecessary electronics and stupid features which don't do much anyway.

I'm expecting about 20-25 years worth of life out my Huebsch front loader... At least I'm hoping I can get that kind of lifespan out of it..

All front loaders only last 7 years??

What Launderess said......
When I was 5-6 years old Mum used to take me to our small local Laundrette which had Osby Viking front loaders. It opened when the owners son who was the same age as me came along.
In a town 20 odd miles up the road from me there is another Launderette- guess what their machines are identical Osby Vikings to the ones I used to be facinated by- oh I turn 40 next year lol.......
