now all the surface rust stains have been removed, you can see the rust spots more clearly...

Here is the uniquely styled stainless steel drum, fitted to the Keymatics....

surfaces smoothed off, out comes the rust preservative...

 

[matchboxpaul]

and all round the edge of the outer tub...

 

[matchboxpaul]

over to the rear tub seal and a layer of sealant is applied to help the seal do its job...

and the new seal is stretched around the backplate...

 

[matchboxpaul]

the seal is then smoothed into the sealant....

 

[matchboxpaul]

and left to dry, perched on top of a titan tub...

 

[matchboxpaul]

with rust preservative dry, a layer of protective enamel paint is applied over the affected areas...

 

[matchboxpaul]

with layers being applied into the night...

 

[matchboxpaul]

with that being left to dry, the 'electrilips' was brought out for a plug in...

 

[matchboxpaul]

whereupon, people stopped for refreshment....

ARGHH such a familiar site, every old hoover tub welcomes its visitor with rust!............its like looking at my own ones........(keymatic awaits this inspection).........hmmm almost soothing to watch........soooooo satisfying when its done

the following morning....

saw enamelling nicely dried and, what will hopefully prove to be, a sound surface for water retention...

a bit more...

outer drum = rust preventative applied and new enammelling added.

inner drum = cleaned.

backplate = surface cleaned, new seal applied and sealed.

Let reconstruction commence....
