When washing a load, even if it's only 2/3 full, with the water manually "reset" to the top, my washing machine makes sounds like it's overburdened under its weight. I had a technician come 3 weeks ago, and he said everything inside is fine, but I'm probably overloading the machine. There are times the machine was too full, as I got used to the machine, but now it isn't, and it still creaks every load. It sounds like metal rubbing against each other.

What next? Do I return this and get the Fisher & Paykel I was considering?

It's very frustrating, as I was not expecting such issues with this machine. I have it about two months.

Thank you

Could it be a belt issue? A loose or ill-fitted belt can make a right royal racket. It takes a lot of clothes to overload an SQ. Usually they can turn over a load where other washers fail. Unless there is somethign wrong with its tranny. Does it agitate normally when it makes that noise?

Noisy SQ 412 Washer

Hard to tell what is causing the sound you are hearing without hearing it. But it is unlikely that anything is seriously wrong, and you have a 3 year warranty so I would not worry. If it is anything serious it will likely get progressively get worse and if it is just a minor squeak as it is agitating, oh well. SQ TL washers are sturdy, durable but somewhat crude machines and they are far from silent in operation.

A F&P washer while a newer design and more polished machine do not hold up well in really heavy use situations, so I dough that it would be a great choice for you. Your next best bet would probably be a SQ Front Load washer, but these certainly are not silent in operation either.

The sound is a squeaky metal sound, and the machine agitates fine. It almost never happens in the spin cycle. I've watched you tube videos where the machine was loaded more than my was.

Noise from the machine doesn't bother me, but this is an unusual sound that happens almost every load. I wash at least 10 loads a week.

Speed Queen noises........

1. Could be your breaks, normal sound, dunk, dunk, dunk, dunk, or eek eek eek eek.... keeping the tub from indexing.
2. There are two metal washers one on top of the other at the bottom of the drive shaft. These could be making the noise if you are overloading the machine, of if they have dust on them, it will only happen during agitation, but it is more like a squeal!
3. Your description just sounds like the breaks holding the tub from indexing,
so it's sounds like normal operation.
Every washer makes different noises

I read on another thread here about the noise, and it was recommended there to oil the metal. What kind of oil should be used?

Thanks

The transmission is lubricated for life. There is nowhere else inside the machine that should require lubrication. Have you checked the belt? A loose belt can be the cause behind those loud grinding sounds. When your machine becomes loud during agitation, just turn it off and on again, using the program dial, to see if the noise stops.
