My boyfriend's mom recently ordered a Speed Queen AWN432 topload washer per my recommendation. I know that Speed Queen had to lower the water levels to meet the government standards and I also know that by tweaking that wonderful little set screw on the water level switch, those stupid reduced levels will go away forever. My question is, how does one access the control panel on these? I know it's probably simple but I don't want to break something on her new machine! Are there clips to be popped on the front of the control panel? Screws? Does the back of the control panel remove to access the switch?

Also, she requested the red dial inserts, how are these installed? Does the machine come with a set of new dials or do the inserts pop out? (I made sure those were put in the order, they were $5 extra.)

Thanks!

And still nobody knows the answer?  I'm fairly certain I have seen this SQ topic discussed in the past, and the Super Searchalator is your friend.

I think the inserts will be a snap, so to speak, and not something that would require the knowledge level of a factory-trained service tech.

AWN432

I have the AWN432 and I haven't yet made the water-level adjustment...so I'm washing slightly smaller loads than I'd like, but it's a wonderful machine! Such a smooth solid spin...like my original Maytag DC

There are I believe 4 screws on the top rear. Remove those and the top plate comes off. There are a few screws holding the panel to the back panel. Remove those and pull the panel up and forward. The water level switch is the 2nd one and you will see the screw. Turn it to the back r clockwise. About 2 full turns should do it.
