Speed Queen dryer

Frigilux--if I remember correctly you have the same SQ dryer that I have. Having had this one for 8 weeks I'm finally getting a handle on where to set the dial on the thing.

However, a couple of weeks ago I ordered a set of 6 wool dryer balls for this dryer. I'd bought those plastic ones before but didn't like the sound and they didn't seem to do much good.

However, I have found that keeping these in the dryer is cutting the drying time way down and I'm not using dryer sheets all the time.

Glad you've located the 'sweet spot' on your SQ, John. The four dryness levels on my electronic series 9 are Wet, Damp, Near Dry, Dry.

So far, I've found 'Damp' to leave items just a bit damp for my liking. I want the load fully dry, but not baked beyond that. 'Near Dry' overdries most loads by around 10-20 minutes. 'Dry' overdries the load by 25-30 minutes.

Haven't tried the 'Wet' setting. That would probably leave items damp enough for dry ironing.

As I've mentioned before, don't bother wishing you'd gotten the dryer with electronic sensing. It's really no more accurate than yours.

It's quiet, though, I'll give it that; and hopefully has better build quality than most mainstream brands. Have had no problems with items catching lint out of the filter since I purchased the little plastic grate that fits over it.

It's just too bad SQ couldn't make the sensing system more accurate.
