Hi guys
I have a Speed Queen FL that is 4 yrs old. It has suddenly stopped draining the water out. I have checked the pump impeller and all is clear. Any suggestions that an amatuer can do? Thanks guys!

Thanks for being so helpful whomever you are, remaining unidentified.
I thought this was a friendly group who welcomed newbies. But I suppose remaining anonymous helps to allow you to be catty! We all aren't as knowledgeable as you!

Ohm Meter

Honestly, I haven't had the need to ohm out one of the pump motors on these machines. But I suspect there is a technical document in the console of the machine that has some troubleshooting information.

Have a look and see if the document is there.

Someone that is servicing these machines in the field may be able to point you to a service manual online.

Do you even hear the pump motor run when you select the Spin Only cycle? Or does the machine just sit there, quiet?

Stupid question, I know...

To be fair, Malcolm doesn't really know how much electrical knowledge you have.

If you don't even know how an ohm meter works, you should be calling in an experienced service technician rather than trying to service the machine yourself. Especially if you don't want to risk damaging the machine or yourself and you want to get it fixed within a decent amount of time.

To even begin to start working on a machine, you need to understand how a multimeter works and you need to have an understanding of Ohms law.

Good luck.

Non Draining SQ FL Washer

Actually you don't need to know much about electricity to figure out what is wrong. If you have removed the trap and nothing is caught in the impeller and you can turn it with your finger then try direct testing the pump. Take an old cord and attach two terminals and disconnect the machines wiring from the pump and attach the test cord and plug it into an outlet or extension cord, the pump should operate, if it seems to run put water in the machine and see if it pumps out, if not unplug everything and remove the drain hose on the pump and if the water floods out you need a new pump.

Also be sure that nothing is caught in the drain hose, and if the above experiment dose make the pump operate properly then there may be something electrically wrong in the machine. Remember these washers have a full 3 year warranty.
