Hi there,

I have a AWS44NW Speed Queen and it's leaving the clothes wet after spin. I checked the drain line, and water is being pumped out at a very good speed, so I think the pump and drain line are fine. The washer IS spinning. But when the load is done, the clothes are still quite wet a heavy. The water is all out of the tub.

What would you recommend to trouble shoot this? I am thinking the belt or tensioner spring? If I do order a belt, where should I order from?

When spinning, it does make an interesting sound off and on. Here is a video of that:

Thanks for any help.

You need a new drive belt. The belts on these SQ washers wear and that’s the telltale sign you need a new drive belt is that it will show up in water extraction. Also I am willing to bet that even agitation isn’t quite a vigorous as it once was. The water drain pump on these are direct drive and located under the motor.

Traditional Speed Queen top load washer belts

Can certainly wear out and effects spin speed and even agitation performance if they're about shot.

Reply number three it's really not necessary to change the idler pulley it almost never wears out in the life of a Speed Queen. It's also a nuisance to change.

A machine will never work any better if you replace parts that are perfectly good, a good technician can identify the bad parts and replace only what is necessary.
