Wow, that was an excellent find, Malcolm! I loved the bit where they all but admitted that Chinese washers couldn't stand up to the hard use of vended multi-housing or industrial on-premises laundry.
Having recently seen both SQ's front- and top-loading models at a local dealer, I understand why so many at AW rave about the build-quality. They make my Frigidaire look like a Tinker-Toy.

When I was in Shanghai and other parts of China last year I was looking for any signs of a coin operated laundromat just to do my own laundry as a visitor. I found none and only service laundries. I knew that it would be a great business opportunity for a growing Chinese middle class. Glad Speed Queen has the foresight to expand in China. Maybe also in Hong Kong.

And it is a two way street, if you look inside the control panel of your new SQ washer you will find Chinese made switches already.

That is a cool smart move for Alliance! Love the Owner saying he couldnt find the quality in China and the woman saying the apartment block looks a lot nicer with no laundry blowing in the breeze!!
