Hey all. Thanks for the responses.
You're all correct about the year of manufacture, and that the five-year warranty therefore expired last year.
Service tech came out yesterday, and diagnosed the problem as a bad motherboard. He also stated that that doesn't happen often, and he's only seen one other machine have that issue.
Part is on order. I'll let you know what it ends up costing.

Okay folks,
The washer was repaired today, and is back up and running.
Parts and labor total came to $491 and change.
In case anyone is interested, I'm including a picture of the label from the box the part came in.
