I have a Speed Queen Ultra-Mate Stackable. The wiring fried on it yesterday while cycling and it stopped running. Now the washer is locked and I cant pull it out to retrieve my laundry. Does anyone know if there a way that it can pull out manually?

Unlocking, the washer, on a Speed Queen ultra mate

You can take the washer, front panel off and reach back and trigger the solenoid lock. Just be sure to turn the power off first then you can tilt the washer out.

What burned up on your washer, does yours happen to be a gas dryer?

This is an electric unit. Where will the solenoid be when I remove the panel and how would I go about triggering it?

The lock solenoid is in the rear center of the washer base plate.

I’ve only ever worked on a few of these machines so I can’t tell you exactly except that it will be quite obvious you just have to disassemble it or take your fingers and release it did you get the front panel off yet?

Hey John, We aren't sure if we are to take the control panel off or the actual front panel of the machine? When the control panel was removed there is another panel behind it so we can't see any further. So, would it be the larger panel below the control panel that needs to be removed?

Thank you,
Scot

Finally, a picture, I I assumed that the machine was full of water and could not be moved and it’s a large heavy machine as you know.

From the rear of the machine, take the back off, you can release the latch at the lower back.

You could also do this from the front by removing the front panel not the control panel.

This is why I often don’t try to help there’s just not enough information and you can’t go back-and-forth quickly to help someone solve a problem either with email or writing on a blog like this

But you should be able to get it, released easily from the back .

John,

Yes, the machine is full of water and yes it is a beast. That helps a lot and will give it a go. I will reach out to you and let you know that we were successful. Thank you so much for all your assistance!!!!

Have a great weekend!

Un locking the latch on a Speed Queen top load stack

I only ever had to do this once more than 20 years ago. It was easy to do you could either access it from the back there’s a small access near the lock at the bottom or you can just take the front off the washer and reach back and do it.

The machine that I did this on. Had a bad timer. I ordered a timer and went back and replaced it.

Did you figure out what went wrong with your washer Scott to cause a problem in the first place?
