I think that is backwash from the pump. When you start the machine in agitation, the water in the pump backwashes ( pushes) into the bottom of the tub,then up to the top of the tub rim, whick I think is perforated. Does it also fill through the tub ring? It may not do it with less than a full tub of water. Just a thought.

You may be right about that

The fill flume is right above the filter ring right in the same place you see the water waterfall out. I didn't realize that the pump could have so much force as to backwash that far up and over the ring.

To that end, what's the point of a filter ring with no filtering mechanism, and could one modify the machine to make use of the filter?

There was a port on the top of the pump for filter models. I think they eliminated the recirculating filter and pump and used a static filter attached to the bottom of the tub. Yours may have the static filter mounted to the bottom of the inner tub. The pump for the recirc models had a port at the top of the filter with a hose directed at the filter ring. It would , supposedly spin off the lint during the spin cycle, thus they could call it self cleaning.

I kinda get what your saying about the RimFlo filtering not funcional in yours, a four port pump and a few hoses and yours would be in action....otherwise, I would say you got RIMMED, and not in a good way!

2015 Speed Queen TL agitator speed

I am looking into purchasing a 2015 top load Speed Queen. I see in the literature that it has a 2-speed motor. Is that 2 speed only for the spin cycle or does it apply to the wash cycles too, e.g, higher agitation for heavy duty and slower agitation for delicates?

Agitator Speed Combos

Combo52 - Thank you for answering my question. I also wanted to tell people that I emailed Speed Queen technical and they emailed me back within the hour and not only told me about the fast and slow agitation but also sent me the manual which lists all agitator speed and time combinations for all cycles. It's not available on their website so when I figure out how to post it here I will do that so everyone can have that info. What great customer service from Speed Queen, no long phone calls to Bangladesh with useless customer service like LG. I actually got Customer Service with Speed Queen!! That did it, I'm going out this morning to buy my top-of-the-line top load and matching dryer.
