Someone help!!! Just figured out why I have been seeing water on the floor behind washing machine. We have the Speed Queen Manual version and suds keep coming out of standpipe at end of the cycle. I have tried putting in very little detergent and it keeps happening. I am thinking of changing out the drain hose to something more smooth/rubberized. Does anyone know how involved that is? I can't find anything in manual about it.

I believe Susan, your drain pipe must have a clog because everything from the machine should drain away, right away from the standpipe into your system. I would try a Draino or vinegar/baking soda if on a septic right down the standpipe. Standpipes should always work fine unless there is an obstruction somewhere in the line and all other drains are fine.

I have herd about this from other folks,i cant understand what is wrong,my farm house is from the 1890s & drains in to a very old septic system & have never had a problem.iwould say something is wrong w/ your drain pipe or the force from the small opening on the end of the drain hose is putting out to much force.try cutting the drain hose back so the opening is bigger.(less force coming out of the drain hose)might help?

From SQ TL Washers, We have seen this problem several times, it is not because you are using too much detergent, it is the washer design with the spin drain, the best thing to do is to tape the end of the washers hose around the top of the standpipe.

Hi, I had the exact same thing happen to me with my speed queen. My washer repair man told me to wrap a towel around the standpipe to keep the suds from coming over the top. I also switched to Tide turbo HE detergent and my towel stays dry. What detergent do you use? Make sure you are using HE detergent as the manual says to use. Hope this helps.
I used a Speed Queen TL in a hotel in San Jose, CA a few months back. It only did a spray rinse (like the domestic version's eco-normal cycle).
I used a Tide pod. It drained the wash water with no problem. But during the spray rinse/spin suds were pouring down the wall onto the floor. I took this photo:

I had this happen with my new washer AWS92 Speed Queen when the maid did a load of laundry and didn't ask me how to use the washer. I don't know what cycle she chose, but she put the liquid detergent in the fabric softener holder. I believe I ended up with a load that was dosed with detergent and then drained. Doing that didn't suds any, but when I opened it up the next day and smelled the strong Whisk smell in the rags and such, I figured she just had used a LOT of detergent (not that she didn't put the detergent in the right place). So I selected rinse and drain. This sudsed up a bit - I'd never seen anything like it.
In my case however, if you put detergent in for the wash cycle like you're supposed to it doesn't suds up at all, at least with Whisk and All free and clear.

Just cut a piece and place around the drain hose in the stand pipe.

Wondering if anyone has successfully used cleanteamofny's trick of placing the weatherseal around the drain hose in the standpipe to prevent suds from coming out? I read a recommendation to not use use liquid detergent exclusively, but I find that the powdered that I am using (Tide Free and Gentle) causes suds to come out of my standpipe.

Sealing the hose into the standpipe with weather stripping etc, even an old ray will solve this issue.

My whole life I used an old scotch Brite sponge tucked around the drain hose...
Then 3M decided to change the sponge to that natural whatever horrible modern fiber and it was never the same anymore.

sometimes this sudsing overflow happens, to any given machine, any application, any detergent...think of members who have numerous machines hooked into several standpipes, yeah, somewhere suds will overflow on occasion...a quick and easy fix, and I move on...
stuff a piece of foam in there....

wrap with electrical tape....

the engineers for making the machine run at slow speed during the intermediate spin after wash. That's your problem! It should run at full speed through and through during heavy-duty!

I have several vintage machines that run at full speed.....and will do the same thing!....
just like some machines, Whirlpool belt drive and Maytag which will suds lock easily at times...

I just used an old rag and sealed it in the drain pipe. Haven't had any suds come out since then.

Suds at hose
I tried using the weatherproof foam as someone mentioned but it is till foaming from hose. Anyone have any luck with anything else. We got a brand new speed queen. Thank you!
