Speed Queen Wringer Washer And Kenmore Ironer

These followed me home yesterday. They both are in nice condition for their age. An antique store was being liquidated and years ago I saw this washer in the middle of the store priced at $799.95. I can tell you I paid no where near that for this pair.

Does anyone have any information on speed queen wringer date codes?

This one sat in the antique shop for at least 10 years. Ran it today and it functions but has a couple of issues. I’m thinking from the design of the motor it has to be 1940’s. Cleaned it up a little and washed a load of towels.

That Speed Queen washer looks just like the one our sitter had. She would have bought it sometime around 1950.

The ironer looks like it would be a good match to the Kenmore Visi-Matic washer that Bill (Thedrycleaner) just got.

I have the same Kenmore ironer that my mother bought at a yard sale for a conversation piece in the dining room back around 2004 if memory serves correctly.

Model 648 first appeared in 1948 according to the NARDA trade in book.

Thanks Tom. I was wondering if the 48 in the model number might have been the year.

I think they were made up until 1954 or 1955. Possibly changed the styling by then as well.
