My new Speed Queens arrived today(FL with heater)so here is a preliminary report.Quality simply drips from these machines, both washer and dryer. They look great in the laundry room-their simplicity makes them look really classy-to me anyway.Simplicity is what sold me,along with quality(long term I hope). The washer is virtually silent in all modes but final spin.It operates differently in some ways-here is a couple of examples. The timer does not move, you choose from normal,pp,or delicate, select temp(boostedhc,hc,wc,ww,cc)push start. When the cycle is complete, the timer is still in the same place-there is no provision to select different wash times.A little water goes into the tub before the dispenser is flushed. It says 6 speed on the control panel,it definately has a ramp up speed after it drains.Pulse spins only until final spin.Oddly enough, the pump turns off during the pulse(which is very short)then kicks on as it slows back down to remove the water-why would that be?)The pauses between wash tumbles are longer than the Frigidaire it replaces. Wish I knew how to post a pic, would like to share the excitement!!!

Do you know how to save the pics onto your computer? If you can get them on the computer, underneath the box used for typing posts on here, there is a little window that says "URL Link to share:" then under THAt there is another little window that says "Upload JPEG Format Picture to share in message:" Next to the little white window is a button that says "Browse..." Click that and find the pictures that you saved onto the computer, I personally would make a new folder on the desktop and save them there so they are easy to find. Once you've selected the image, hit "open" and then click the preview message button. It should show up below the text you put into the "Message:" box. Then hit "POST this to Discuss-O-Mat" and it should post it. You can only post one picture at a time however.

Oh Yea...

by the way... CONGRATS ON THE NEW MACHINES!!!! lol, in my excitement to see them I forgot to mention that! I have been eyeing the SQ frontloader for a little while now and I think that will be added to the list of things to buy...
My list currently is composed of:
-Alliance made Continental toploader
-Miele T1415 dryer to match my washer
-the new SQ Frontloader

Pump Turning Off

On commercial/laundromat SQ washing machines without pumps, there is no chance of "suds lock" (too much water/froth draining too fast for the pump to handle, thus machine slows down spinning to protect the pump/washer from damage), because the machine simply drains into a "pit". For the domestic units, SQ opted to shut off the pump, but keep the drains open to allowing gravity to remove water/froth without risking a suds locking condition that would slow down the washer.

Remember these SQ washers are really commercial units, redesigned for home use. SQ tried to keep as many of the commercial qualities (design, construction and build quality), while accomodating the domestic user. Still make no mistake, the washing machines are about getting laundry done fast, just like their commercial cousins.

Congrats on your new units! We want snaps!!!!

Thanks Laundress!

I knew one of our true club experts would tell me about the pump turning off-I assume that is why they made the pulses so short?I have only washed an old queen sized comforter so far,and am alarmed about how little water was used.I replaced a Frigidaire 3.1 FL,and it did not use enough water with a comforter either.I liked the Frigidaire because of it's no-nonsense controls and because it got clothes done-I don't have much use for the "prima donna"machines that take forever to begin to spin-tough, quick, and simple is what I like! Thanks again Laundress,I always enjoy your informative posts.

BTW,I don't know how to post pics-I have my wife's Olympus, and the cable to hook it up to the computer.I almost had it figured out once but the pics I took were apparently too high res to post so I gave it up!No making fun of the illiterate!

If you have the pictures saved on the computer, go to the file with the images and right click on an image you want to post, go to "open with..." and click on "paint", this should show you the true size of the image you took. Once in paint, go the the "image" menu at the top and click on "stretch/skew" a window will pop up with 4 little spaces to type. The first 2 will say 100, change those to 50 and hit ok, this will half the size of your picture, keep doing that, until you get the size you want then go to "file" and "save." once you've done that, go back to the internet and try to post the pics again, if you shrank them enough, they will be allowed to be posted!

I see the door of your washer is damp and already closed... not so good for your washer! Open your door and vent the drum and tub so you don't have mold troubles within months...

SQ update-water level

Hello Friends,
I expressed concern yesterday about the water level in the new SQ,the first thing I washed was an old comforter-low water level but good results.Today I washed a mixed load, better water level but still relatively low.excellent results though.Very dry after spin, and the dryer is F A S T .Someone asked in an earlier post what I paid and I forgot to answer.I paid $1600 for the set, after much negotiation.
