love those electricity board models, and that ecologic is lovely! Its such a shame that the white versions of the logics and ecologics yellow so much. My ecologic is more yellowed than any of the machines on this thread and the writing is wearing off the dispenser draw badly =[. I think they look much nicer in dark colours anyway, bring back beige and almond i say! Should have pics of mine by Sunday.

i love the hoover logics and ecologics. my nana had the hoover logic a3630 1200 spin, myself and my nana loved it, but it was always breaking down, just 2 days after she bought it something went wrong and eventually after about 10 breakdowns my nana gave up on it after it started to flood her kitchen, it wouldn't stop filling up with water so she bined it and got a candy sprint 1000 spin and its 6 years old with no breakdowns yet but still it will never be better than the logic.

Even though pre-1980 machines are more my interest, all these Hoovers look like proper quality machines, and I love those rinses. Can someone tell me if Logics and Ecologics were produced side by side or if the Eco- versions were a later range? I presume water consumption was the primary difference?
Mark, I'm guessing the extra dial on the Energy Control is a timer to let it run on cheap rate power? Seamus, when'd you get your Logic?

Dating Hoovers.....
Just in case anyone didnt know..
The 1st number after the model is the year(you need to know the decade but thats easy to figure)
The next 2 numbers are the month.
This works for any UK/Euro Hoover appliance from 1967- 1995(ish)

Hi Seamus.
Ecologics started being produced in 1991 as the ecologic I had definately was a 1991 model. Also in the 1992 service product data book it mentions ecologic wiring diagrams etc are in another book. The 1992 data book was produced in 1991 ready for 1st Jan 92.
It was quite nice to have one of the last Logics as this was also produced in 1991 but alas it had just too many issues which would have cost to much to put right so it had to go. I do miss it as I loved how it went straight up to 800rpm on the final spin rather than 500/800/1200. Also I liked the rinse times being a lot shorter but still effective. The 3060 has very long rinse times which can sometimes be a bit annoying but I forgive it!

Yes you are correct. The seperate dial is a delay timer enabling you to set it to come on overnight to make use of economy 7 electricity. But we all know its not a good idea to run electrical appliances whilst tucked up in bed or not in the house.

Personally I prefer the "timeline" programme window of the earlier versionswonder when it changed - will have to consult those manuals I guess lol!

I too prefer the timeline programme selector as it looks much better than the later small window affair. Not sure when they changed it but im guessing it was quite early as you don't see that many with the "timeline" window. Im wondering if they changed it at the same time as when they changed the writing from being on the buttons to below them.
I remember coming across an immaculate Logic 1300 with the timeline programmer at a second hand place at a car boot. It had the grey console. You can imagine my dissapointment when I saw the "Sold" sticker.

Its great to have you back. I'm rather keen on your ecologic 1200 in "mink" from 91! Do u still have this one?
I was at my parents yesterday with the otherhalf, i was looking for my boots with the weather being bad i didnt want to ruin my converse trainers walkin the dog! N so i ventured into the garage and had a look at my machines.
I decided to crank the logic up. it had been a while and it was a bit worse for wear last time i used it. It just never gives up! And my god i forgot how high the rinse water is lol i love it to pieces. It does sound abit sore though, from its tricks it was playing lasttime i think it needs a new module and a new motor. Shame i got the wrong motor sent to me by a seller on ebay grr!
Excellent thread im loving it! Will take some new pics of the logic as im gonna run it through a cycle!

Thanks for your welcome back. It is good to be back again!
Unfortunately I no longer have the Ecologic. My old neighbours Bosch died (She only had it 18 months and the bearings went) I would go in (She had an open door policy for me where I would just walk in her house, Many a time she would be walking around in her dressing gown. She knew I was gay obviously so didnt mind and she would go into the shower and then walk around in her towel. All a bit strange from an outsiders point of view but we had such a great relationship it was amusing what the "nosey people in the village thought!") Sorry anyway to get back to the story. I constantly told her that the bearings had gone and she needed a new machine because soon her clothes would get covered in oil. What happened...yes she came round saying help my clothes are covered in oil!!
She had 2 kids and single parent and couldnt afford a new machine as was a mature student at college studying to be a mental health nurse (she had a field day with me!) Well I gave her the Ecologic because it was virtually in Brand new condition (the big scratch in the picture was when We decided to move it with a trolley once and it fell off and slid down the corner of the trolley causing the big scratch).
Im happy it was to get its intended use and I had done my good deed for the day.
Darren good to hear the Logic fired up. Your right in that they just go and go. The Logic 1200 in the pic had the motor as one of its issues. It sounded dreadful as the bearings had gone.
I hope you decide to keep it and get it sorted as they are fab and especially as you have one of the first with the timeline programmer. Its a gorgeous machine.
And yes the 91 thing. I guess I was a bit forceful with that issue. It wasn't intended to sound like that so sorry Seamus!

It was my 1st ever machine in my collection & i love it to pieces, I do think i will get the replacement parts, its just a matter of when. It has been sat idle for some months, so i'm looking forward to using it again!

Now isnt this a pic to remember, The new Hoover factory at Merthyr Tydfyl, South Wales,UK, producing the 3rd model of the Hoover Keymatic: here we can see the machines being assembled, the beauty of this machine is that the top hinged up for servicing, this contained all the timer & wiring & dispenser etc, so was very easy to service and gave clearer access to the tub, just look at the size of the motor and the pulley groove, quite impressive, also the bottom rear is part of the cabinet for stability, the pump also seems to have a fixed outlet to the bottom right of the machine rear, the outlet drain hose is then attached to it.

Hey Guys, well after visiting the site daily for years i have FINALLY joined!Its great seeing all the recent threads to do with classic old machines, i've always said, and the comments that appear on here confirm that there are no better machines made than those in the late 70's and 80's! Just a quick question though, what exactly is the Hoover "Duel Spin" all about? Always puzzled me!

In the model line ups both the A3186 and A3256 were the budget square door machines, slotting in just above the round door basic machines from both series.
Both the A3186 and A3256 were 800/600rpm machines, but so were the A3188 and A3258 which were the 'De Luxe' machines and the next models up.
All i can assume is that 'dual spin' was simply a brand used to talk up the more basic models in the line-up.
Anyone know for sure?
