This Is....
....What I hate about today's food manufacturers.
They come out with something you like, even love, and the minute profits don't please their shareholders, they slash and burn.
I cannot tell you how many tastes of my childhood and young adulthood are gone forever, and some of them were products that had been around for a century or more. Today's shareholders, CEOs and product developers won't leave well enough alone - there always has to be "tweaking" to products and to the product lineup.
The greatest contempt for consumers has to be today's "limited edition" foods and flavors - items that are introduced and then deliberately withdrawn. About five years ago, PepsiCo did this with Mountain Dew Distortion, a variation of Dew with a heavy lime kick to it. It was better than sex, everyone loved it. Any corporation run by sane people would have kept it in the product line. Gone, and Pepsi will not respond to the numerous consumer entreaties and petitions begging them to re-introduce it. What the Hell kind of "marketing strategy" is that? So far as I've ever known, profits lie in giving people what they want, not keeping it away from them!
Food is much more than ingredients, manufacturing processes, distribution and profits. It's comfort. It's friendship. It's memories. It's love.
