Starting Afresh...

Evening guys,

Now that I have finished school for good last week I decided to rip everything out of my shed and start with a blank canvas with a few of creating a more homely feel to the place as well as making things a lot easier. So the thinking cap went on and it was apparent that the following things needed doing.

Touch up the paintwork.
Tear up those worktops the automatics were standing on so that a level floor could be achieved in turn improving accessibility.
Moving the sink to the window, where it would normally be in the kitchen.
Moving that large press so that it would be opposite it.
Reposition power points and plumbing.
Lay down laminate flooring.
DEEP CLEAN!
Put all my machines back in again!

It's well underway and I have no pictures yet but the bulk of the work should be done by this weekend.

Sounds like a great challenge James - a good release after the exams. Look forward to seeing the final results. You'll have to do a blueprint so I can do the same when I move especially as I reckon I will end up having to build something for my collection )

I'm on track for the weekend completion date!

The paint job is sorted apart from a few bits of touching up.
The sink is installed in it's new spot at the window and just needs a drain pipe fitted, I can't wait to run the dishwasher and a machine of my choice into the trap underneath because I never got the chance to do that. I also noticed too that my Hotpoint spinner and maybe my Spinarinse can fit underneath too therefore more space has been created for my more smaller machines which did clutter the place at times.
The bulk of the laminate has been laid down and this makes such a difference to the shed, apart from looking more attractive that previous dirty old floor its is a much easier surface for machines to travel over, my twin tubs just roll like a breeze whereas before they were dragged over the rough surface. It is also very sturdy and not springy like the old floor, some boards did need screwing down though.
The plumbing and electrics is the easy bit so the first of my collection should be installed tomorrow.

As you can see everything is pretty much changed, some machines have yet to be moved back in and the place needs dusting but this is it, a lovely and manageable home for my collection! Wow a fantastic makeover James and it looks great. I bet you are pleased with the results and I bet it's easier now to get to all of them. I have the same Hoover spin a rinse as you although mine is all seized up waiting to looked at. The drain hose was totally perished but I've managed to get hold of a new one. Once I get the 2 Quartz's and Supermatics working then I might get the chance to fiddle

Steve , yes grab those hoses while you can, the spin a rinse ones always buckled and spilt for all that push in / pull out routine!!

Worlds Apart

This is excellent James, you own washer heaven, you got there in the end, I remember when I did up the garage to how I wanted, it felt great, this is even better with your collection of machines sitting there waiting to entertain you, you could I daresay just sit in there all day, it is so good to see your efforts and obvious enthusiasm.

Plumbing

James,

You were lucky, when we first moved to our current house, there was drainage for 02 washers, enough to hold my Zanussi JetSystem & Mum & Dad's Candy Sprint, we finally got round to replumbing the Laundry Corner in October 2011, during which, the Míele engineer & Dad have bad memories of, The Navi's WPS pipe split, causing a shower of icy water to spew, the Navi engineer knocked the half completed water inlet pipe, causing it to drop, & spray both him & Dad.

Dad then went on to complete the plumbing, but again, the pipe dropped, causing another "shower of sadness" Dad saying, while Mum & me rofl'd laughing, "I've already had my shower today, I don't need another!"

It was finally completed in October 2011, and is, as it is now, except a very tight squeeze as there's so much stuff cluttering the garage now.

The only thing that remains incomplete, are the separate sockets for each machine, ever since I started collecting, I've been running the crew of a 06 point multiway, from a single double socket. The separate doubles are present on the wall with a single electrical cable wired in through each, just not completed, to the actual electrical connection box in the garage.
