In my opinon,

they sound nothing like old belt drive Whirlpools.

haha nice. No I meant the new belt drives, the vertical modular washer models. I do love the "woo-woo" sound of the old belt drives, but the "whah-whah" of the new ones is kinda neat too...IMO anyway.

Ahh!,

I'm sort of tone deaf. To me the newer ones sound like Rah Reer rah reer.
The mode selector spring for the splutch spin disengage is also annoying.
Just sounds like something breaking.
